Always felt like half volley was when you catch the ball on the way up right after the bounce and volley was when you took it on the way down out of the air. This is interesting. Is a half volley anything that has bounced since the last player touched it?

@LiamGranby It’s a volley cos the ball was on its way down. Doesn’t matter that it bounced. A half volley the ball has just hit the ground so it’s on the way up.

How do people NOT understand the definition of a volley or half volley? Has no one ever played "heads & volleys"? Defo half-volley!

For me a half volley is when you catch a ball on its way up after it bounces. Striking a ball coming down or across is a volley regardless if it bounces or not.

I mean they’re all wrong. It’s just nothing. Volley is when it hasn’t bounced previously, half volley is when you hit it on the bounce.
