Because I think it is very important, since you represent the largest military community, for your voice and your constituents’ voices to be heard right now. Jacobs: I talked to one family resource counselor who works with families of deployed service members who told me that right now things are chaotic and in crisis mode at levels she hasn’t seen before, or in many, many years. There is so much stress emotionally and financially on these families. I was recently at an event for military children, reading them a book, and this 8-year-old autistic kid whose mom was deployed was struggling so much because he didn’t know when his mom was coming home or if she’d come home. Our service members know what they sign up for. They sign up to sacrifice for us. But it’s our job to make sure that sacrifice actually is for a purpose, that we have a real strategy and a real endgame. Right now, none of that is in place. Donald Trump won’t even answer simple questions about whether this is an ongoing operation, whether it’s ended, whether troops are leaving, or if the strait is actually open. Rebranding this war is just insulting to our troops who have been there, and especially to our troops who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
