Pretty cool! Those are real F-8's of the Indonesian Air Force. They had already been retired but they allowed them to be repainted and used as props for the movie. That's why you don't actually see them moving under their own power.

!!!

Last of the Gunfighters

VFP 206 CAG 20 Andrews AFB 1987…Last of the Gunfighters flying the LTV Vought F-8 for the Naval Reserves 🇺🇸

13 Days

Last of the "gun fighters"!

Cuban missile crisis movie. They are going to recon Cuban-Russian missile sites.

My ex-wife had a friend who was an F-8 pilot off the Oriskany during the Vietnam War. Ron told me they were like flying a bus...

FYI. The CDR climbs into aircraft Modex 910. His wingman climbs into aircraft Modex 906 which is on the CDR's right. When 906 taxies out, with the tower in the background, 910 is on the right of the wingman. Continuity got it wrong with this one. Otherwise, good stuff.

13 days, great movie.

They are RF-8s as they have no guns but they do have cameras.

Very good movie. Thirteen Days I think it was called?

I love the scene before this one: "If you are shot at on your flight you are NOT taking fire. Do you understand me?" "Sir?" "You are not being fired at."

thirteen days.

I have always loved military jets from the mid ‘60s to early ‘80s. They had soul.

Crusaders @evan7257

I remember this period. I was around then (The October Missile Crisis, Cuba).

RF-8A's (F8U-1P) great movie by the way

That model in general of F-8 are still among my favorite aircraft.

My Dad went to work for Vought in 1952, he was part of the team that designed the fuel system on the F-8. Slide Rules and drafting on paper...

No Slack in Fast Attack❗ 🫡🇺🇸

Looks like Clark to me.

My dad flew F-8s over Vietnam.

In the book The Great Santini, Bull Meacham flew F-8s. Would have been cool if they could have had F-8s in the movie.

The F-8. Last of the Gunfighters.

baby killing ideas

An RF-8 aircraft that flew one of the Cuba missions is on display in the aircraft building on the USS Alabama campus (Mobile Bay).

These were the two recon planes that snapped the missiles? Very cool

Gunslingers!

Unarmed and unafraid. The real jet with the knights head on it is on display at the aviation museum in Mobile, next the the USS Alabama.

RF- 8U

@grok i thought i saw every military aviation movie, but i guess not. Can you sum this one up

Great Movie.

“Your are not to be shot at, fired on, or launched upon.” 😂
