Dude, you have single handedly inspired countless readers to jump into a book and lose themselves. I’m reading The Count Of Monte Cristo because of you! And more and more readers are sharing their stories here because of you. A life of the mind is an exhilarating adventure and you prove that! 🙌🏼🌟💝

I love your conviction and passion, and the fact that you are open to share and inspire others to get back into one of the most influential inventions in human history and especially inspire the younger generation. People forget not that long ago, having a personal library was for only available for the very privileged.

Dumas is great and is still approachable today. One of my favorite authors. Three musketeers is really good too.

“Felt like a break up” is a very accurate way to describe that feeling when parting paths with a gripping, engrossing, story/book. Welcome to Dumas, Chris. And enjoy the trail. 👍🏻

It’s the best. And when he says his name each time?!? Sooo good. Thank you for sharing this amazing book with so many people. Now they just need to make a series. It would be so good released in portions just like it originally was in the French newspaper.

If the 4 month wait is too long they have the Audio here for free .. and the characters have their own unique voice to help you kinda decipher who’s who The Count of Monte Cristo (version 3) By Alexandre Dumas

I…. I need him in the biopic. It’s a must! Also, men who read are sooooo sexy! That’s one of the first questions I ask menfolk I’m interested in “Do you like to read?”

Your earlier video inspired me to tackle this book. This was not the type of genre I ever thought I'd seek out, much less enjoy. I'm now doing a re-read while I follow along on a sub-Reddit discussion of the book. Thank you for being an inspiration.

I agree, Chris. It did feel like you were living that life with him. I haven't read it in a while, but I used to read it every year. My daughter is 13 and reads constantly, and I'm about to introduce her to this book too.

I read it when I was 21, newly married and had no money for cable(before streaming) I had a library card though and decided to read some of the classics. It was so good. I was hooked from the first page. Dumas is an incredible writer. I’m so glad you got to enjoy it too!

You should read The Black Count. It's about Alexandre Dumas' father (also named Alexandre) who the author modeled the Count of Monte Cristo after. His dad went through similar events as the Count and fought with and against Napoleon. It's fascinating!

I’ve always said Monte Cristo was Dumas’ best work. No hate on Musketeers, but this one is just a better read.

Such a great, great revenge story! I am not a revengeful person, but after what was done to him, it was so satisfying to see what he would do next with the power he had gained! Best story ever! Glad you loved it too.

After you delve into Dickens, I hope you'll try the NON FICTION works of Samuel Clemmons- who wrote under the pen name MARK TWAIN. "Innocents Abroad" & "Roughing it" are two of the finest first person accounts of living during the turn of the century in th U.S. you will ever read

I enjoy your post about the books you have read. May I suggest when you hold the book up, try not too cover the title. Many of the classics have different covers and it is confusing to see which book you are reviewing. Keep up the good work.

Totally agree! I think it might be my favorite of all time. I was completely unsurprised to learn that while it was being syndicated, it had people in every country where it was published in a vice grip. People would talk about it at work and on their commutes. It was HUGE.

Some books never leave you…I watched the latest film, read it and listened on audio to the Count of Monte Cristo last year because I couldn’t let go. Keep it close to you as you will want to reread it and will see new things when you do. Have you connected with @SeanBerube4?

This is a sign of true reader. I have done the same. Paused reading a book I didn’t want to end or slow down devouring a series - so that they don’t end. If you don’t do this already you’ll find your mind drifting back to the joy of the story. It’s wonderful feeling 😊
