Someone ELI5 why seniors receiving THEIR OWN MONEY that was removed from their paychecks their entire working lives, have to pay any taxes on that income, AT ALL. When the Social Security program was created in 1935 there were no taxes on SS income. It was that way for 48 years before Reagan changed it, and Clinto later modified the taxation tiers.

Wrong. Only half of your SS is taxed presently. The new SS tax deduction should cover most, if not ALL, of any taxes you might owe to IRS. AND, they can extend that or they can eliminate it totally with a new standalone bill in the future. People love to rain on our parade.
