This is usually a trauma response, either child loss, childhood trauma, or just scared of being alone. It’s really sad, but if she’s safe and happy, then it’s a great way to cope.

A lot of people will make jokes about this, but back when I was in law enforcement, we had a woman who had lost a child as a baby. She clearly had a mental break from the loss and carried around a doll baby as a replacement and treated it like it was real. I hope this is a skit.

It may seem sad and scary to everyone else but for her this is probably her normal or she's gone through a very traumatic childhood. I'll keep her in my prayers.
