IRS did a TEST audit of my small 5 man company in 2004 and found a SSI withhold check that I signed from employee that handled payroll had a tab on it to mail but she put it in wrong file portion of binder for prior month. It was $3200. The IRS “while every check after was filed timely, I am going to take each subsequent check and apply to prior month” so that meant every SSI check mail was a month late for 20 months. The interest is calculated at 9.9% apr. Ok —— oh, every month late carries a $10,000 penalty. Your TEST audit to learn how you do business is now real and you owe $200,000 plus $16,000 interest. You have 30 days to pay plus interest computed daily. File appeal, see you in 6 months. At the end of 30 days, seize my company Bank Account and client accounts Funds that I managed because signature authority. So they cut a deal - pay $100,000 in 7 days and we release funds. Had to take 2nd Mortgage on home. As soon as I paid, I get a personal audit for 2 years. Your guilty automatic. Auditor who started personal audit said “ your my last audit, I have cancer. We are required to find $6,700 for a successful audit. He did die ( really nice man around 60 years old) and 2 year audit found little over $10,000 but I could pay monthly installments of $500 per month until paid. Tip - if you pay a $1,000 for 2 months, you still have to pay $500 next month because they take $500 off back end. So I was in default of payments and they seize your personal accounts so you cant pay mortgage, car payment, child support, grocery —- had to fire 2 employees, and at age 52, borrow $10,000 from mom.
