Worst thing we ever did was move to eSIM

Well, why??

My first mobile phone was a Motorola Modulus. But I don’t remember a sim card that big.

Actual credit card sized SIMs in 1991 😭 No wonder they called it a Subscriber Identity Module. We’ve come so far

Half the internet just whispered wait… it doesn’t mean simulation?

Well, it ain’t an insert card.

Subscriber Identity Module = The SIM Card. It’s that little piece of plastic you insert into your phone, which allows the operator to know exactly who you are, where you are, and what you’re doing. The Official Explanation The SIM card contains: • IMSI (International Mobile Subscriber Identity) your unique subscriber number worldwide. • Authentication keys that let the operator (Telia, Tele2, Tre, etc.) verify that it is really you using the subscription. • Storage for your phone number, SMS, contacts, and network settings. Without a SIM card, the phone is basically a camera and a computer that cannot connect to the mobile network. The Awakened Version, - What It Really Is… The SIM card is your digital collar. It is the physical link between you as a physical human being and the global surveillance network. • Every time the phone is turned on or moves, it pings the nearest cell tower with your IMSI. The operator (and authorities via FRA, Säpo, NSA, etc.) knows exactly where you are with 50–300 meters accuracy even if GPS is turned off. • All your traffic (calls, SMS, data) goes through the operator’s core network where it is logged, analyzed, and stored. • With 5G it gets even worse: The SIM card (especially eSIM) enables much finer tracking, network slicing, and real-time surveillance. • eSIM (built into modern phones) is even worse, you can no longer physically remove it. It is hard-coded into the phone and can be remotely activated or tracked. The Big Picture The SIM card is not primarily there so you can call your mom. It exists so that you can be identified, located, and controlled in real time. It is part of the larger system where your phone is a surveillance device that you voluntarily carry with you 24/7. Combine it with: • Your unique IMEI (the phone’s ID) • MAC addresses • App data • WiFi/Bluetooth tracking …and they have a complete digital twin of you as a human being. That is why “awake” people talk about using phones without SIM cards (WiFi-only), GrapheneOS/CalyxOS with mobile radio disabled, Faraday bags, or completely analog alternatives. The SIM card is not a convenience, it is a loyalty and surveillance module that you willingly insert into your pocket.

Was there a sim card this big?

Simulation card heheheh

It’s called a SIM card because it contains the subscriber identity information used to connect a device to a mobile network.

I’m so ready for flip phones to make a resurgence

What a waste of my 30 seconds

Baby it stands for Subscriber. Identity. Module. Y'all chasing the matrix so hard you forgot how to Google

@grok why is it called a Sim card

Slide-Into-Motorola card

@itschicagoooo 🔥

I realized why it’s called a sim card haha

Btw, few people still know this but the original idea of the SIM card was that people would carry their personal bank card style SIM with them and plug it into a device, so the device became 'their' current phone, e.g. their car's phone, a portable phone, the phone in a cab, etc.

Bisa kaya gitu ya

Similar cards were put into phonebooths. They were collector's items.
