My brain can’t follow. It look purely 3D (horizontal perspective, slope elevations…) but it’s not supposed to be possible on PSDK (unless it’s a new engine using stuff from PSDK?) 😂 Perhaps it’s purely 2D and you included some billboard stuff on some tiles?

It's Pokemon Essentials, which is similar. Still a 2D game in a 2D engine, just with some rendering tricks.

Everyone told me I was crazy to think it’s natively 2D but it looks like I won the bet in the end 😂 The good point is that it simplify the workflow a lot/ usage of 2D tilesets but at the same time your limited with the camera and crazy height maps like in BW might looks weird?

Yeah, mapping in this system remains just as simple as mapping in 2D. All the maps are in fact in 2D. The trade off is that I don’t have a system to achieve the geometry from games like BW.

That’s a good point because in the NDS community few peoples can create custom tiles/ 3D tilesets. As a result the art style is quite normalized despite having top notch mapping tools available 🥲
