I did, age 11 on school z80: memory mapped IO into screen RAM but AFTER another IO call to bank switch into reachable decoded RAM area, bank switch back. The video monitor glitched every time, my video game had no chance at 'smooth'. LDIR for scrolling FTW. Such pioneering fun!
