Recently we got a conviction against Desmond Thurston for the 2023 murder of Patricia Johnson. Her murder took place three days after Johnson got a Temporary Protection Order against Thurston. Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson had a ridiculous meltdown on Tuesday when asked what he’s going to do to bring crime down if he refuses federal help. He said crime is down and he’s using every tool available to him, except federal, of course. Johnson then says “jails, and incarceration, and law enforcement is a sickness that has not led to safe communities.” With an attitude like that it’s no surprise that Chicago has more m*rders than any other city in the US for 13 years straight. Recently, I asked Chicago Mayor Johnson at a City Hall press conference about the vicious unprovoked murder of Iryna Zarutzka on a subway train and whether it could happen here. I ask him if he had anything to say to the thousands of women who have been viciously attacked in our city by violent repeat offenders. This was the same day Johnson went off on that bizarre viral rant about how law enforcement is a "sickness" that should be eradicated and how he opposed to incarceration for repeat offenders that "look like him."
