Police Deny Assaulting Man For Refusing To Give Up His Phone The Nigeria Police Force has reacted to the viral video where police officers are seen dragging a man on the road in the Ishashi area of Ojo, Lagos State. The police spokesman in Lagos state, Benjamin Hundeyin, said this in reaction to the video which was shared on Twitter. In the viral video shared on Sunday, police officers are seen dragging a young man and attempting to prevent him from using his phone. Reacting to a user's claim that police officers beat the man because he refused to give up his phone, Hundeyin debunked it, stating that arrested suspects in sensitive cases such as cultism will not be allowed to make calls immediately so that they do not alert their gang members to destroy evidence. He tweeted, “Your narrative is wrong and misleading. It is a fact that Ishashi is one of the hotbeds of cultism in Lagos State. It is equally a known fact that these cultists engage in heavy drug abuse. So doing a random search of three young men moving together and finding hard drugs on one of them would definitely call for a closer look. “Yes, he was being prevented from making a call. No one attempted to collect his phone. This is not the norm in all cases. This particular case borders on a felony, cultism. Freshly arrested suspects in cases as sensitive as cultism will not be allowed to make calls IMMEDIATELY so that they don’t alert their gang members to destroy evidence and bolt. Calls can later be made after the initial documentation and in the presence of the IPO. This was a clear case of resisting arrest and nothing about the phone. “Resorting to theatrics and false accusations along sensitive issues of phone searching will not deter #LagosPoliceNG from carrying out its mandate. Doing malicious video recordings will equally not cow the police into docility.” Credit: Twitter | BenHundeyin -- Follow us for more breaking news and videos

Youths In Agenebode Etsako Burn Down Police Station, Set Fulani Kidnappers/Organ Harvesters Ablaze Aggrieved youths in Agenebode, Etsako East LGA, Edo state have sacked the police station in their community. The issue began when a bubbling youth of the community was kidnapped recently. After ransom was paid the kidnappers were said to have gone ahead and killed off the young man. The community, resorting to self help, were able to trace the mobile phone of the slain youth (which was still in use by the kidnappers) to a Fulani settlement in the area. The community apprehended the suspects and handed them over to the police. However, upon noticing the inaction of the police regarding the case the community youths besieged the station and asked that the suspects be returned to their custody. The police refused to do so and in the ensuing chaos another youth was shot dead by the officers. This led to the burning of the station even as the officers took to their heels. The community retrieved the Fulani suspects and a number of them were slain immediately. The prime suspect led them to the shallow grave where the kidnapped Agenebode youth was killed and buried. Other mutilated and decomposing bodies were found and the suspect confessed to the fact that he and his group had killed several other people during their stay in the town. The decomposing parts of the slain youth was transported back to the main community. Video below. I Asked a Question About The Whereabouts Of The Military When The Armed Robbers Attacked Banks Otukpo In Benue State, And Some People Were Saying It’s Not The Job Of The Military To Fight Armed Robbers. That I Should Stop Encouraging The Misuse Of The Military. Okay Agreed! But When The Police Force Is Overpowered, Overwhelmed And Subdued, Then The Military Comes In. That’s How It Works In a Sane Country. Besides, These Robbers Already Attacked The Police Stations Before Robbing Four Banks All At Once (First Bank, UBA, Zenith, Stanbic). They Killed Several Police Officers And Their Operation Lasted Close To 2 Hours (Stealing Millions Of Naira Plus Dollar) The Military In Nigeria Is Already Misused. What Business Does The Military Have Standing In Checkpoints On The Highways And Collecting Money? What Business Does The Military Have In Providing Escort To Private Rich Civilians? What Business Does The Military Have In a Personal Dispute Where They’re Used To Intimidate And Beat Up Civilians? What Business Does The Military Have In Shooting Innocent Protesters? In Nigeria, Soldiers Are Over Doing The Work Of The Police. So Why Can’t They Be Used To Stop And Fight Criminals When The Police Are Overpowered. But The Military Can Be Used To Kill Innocent Igbo Youths The South East. They Can Burn Down Villages And Destroy Lives And Properties. They Can Be Used To Oppress Innocent Citizens In Nigeria. They Can Be Used To Kill #EndSARS Protesters At #Lekkitollgate #lekkiMassacre. But When It Comes To The Military Actually Doing Their Jobs, They Chicken Away And Make Excuses.
