Fettes College is one of the most prestigious private schools in Scotland, but in January, a public inquiry found that it ‘failed to protect children from sexual and physical abuse’ for decades. One man who was sexually abused while a pupil there has told Channel 4 News that he is yet to have an apology from the school, more than 50 years on, and is calling on them to make amends. I’m proud that One New Zealand will be the first telco in New Zealand to block Child Sexual Exploitation & abuse material at a network level to prevent active or inadvertent access to known child sexual abuse material on its platform, & we’ll be working to actively combat the distribution of new content. This means when you are on the One NZ network you won’t be able to access them. We are also the first telco in New Zealand to sign up to Te Tari Taiwhenua Department of Internal Affairs’ 11 Voluntary principles to Counter Online Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse. Both of these are important steps to help create a safer NZ for everyone - especially children.

Of the sites containing “self-generated” imagery, more than one in five (21%, or 54,250 webpages) contain the most severe abuse (known as Category A). This can include penetration, bestiality, and s*xual torture. Younger children are also at more risk of grooming and abuse, with data showing a dramatic rise in the number of images or videos featuring under 10s where they have been coerced into performing s*xually via a webcam or handheld device. * Almost 34,000 online grooming crimes against children were recorded by UK police since we first called for social media regulation. * 1 in 4 online grooming crimes in the last 5 years were against primary school children. * 73% of crimes involved Snapchat and Meta. Preventing grooming is neither complicated nor difficult. We recommend two fundamental rules that can help eliminate grooming and create a safer online environment for your children. 1. Never chat to someone you don’t know, 2. Never accept a friend request from someone you don’t know. The prevalence of online grooming and the increasing number of predators on the internet are significant concerns. We see it ourselves online as we hunt predators. It is imperative to consistently educate both yourself and your children on these matters in order to enhance their safety. The MAJOR problem with the CNBC report that $GME is 'considering investing in Bitcoin and other Cryptocurrencies' is that if GameStop chooses NOT to do this -- hedge funds will use it as an excuse to SLAM the stock down.
