Blown away by this. Red House Painters on WREK in 1988 performing “Shackles and a Picture of the Key,” sort of like an alt-rock band from the following decade doing a Smiths track. Spiritually emo tbh. This was before they moved to SF and made the demos that got them on 4AD.

I was a pup when this came out, but I have 3 older brothers, and they taught me to have an ear for good tunes!
