Washington, D.C. has reached a settlement agreement with Sam O’Hara, who says police illegally detained him in September 2025 for playing the Darth Vader theme from ‘Star Wars’ while following National Guard troops in protest of the Trump administration. The settlement amount was not disclosed.

"If a man has a little fight with the wife, they say this was a crime, see, so now I can't claim 100%," Trump said. "But, we are, we are a safe city." Trump also suggested that crime would be lower if "much lesser things" like domestic violence were not included in the data. In August, the Trump administration took control of the D.C. police department and deployed National Guard Troops to the nation's capital to crack down on homelessness and crime. Trump has also threatened to send Guard troops to other cities, including Chicago and New York.
