Arming the Kurds is a 2 birds one stone play for the Israelis. Not only could it help fight them their war in Iran, but it can also destabilize Turkey. This cemetery belongs to the Kurdish fighters who gave their lives liberating Raqqa — the capital of ISIS. These are the same heroes the world celebrated for destroying ISIS. Today their graves are being desecrated by Syrian forces backed by the new authorities — the very groups many call ISIS rebranded and normalized by the West. Since then, Kurds have faced repression, bans on language and culture, and violent crackdowns. Only Iraqi Kurdistan has meaningful autonomy today, while elsewhere Kurdish political movements are restricted or crushed. Do you support helping the Kurds establish an independent country?

I’ve watched John Kennedy at least five times. While I hope his warning doesn’t fall on deaf ears, I’m even more concerned that it might be yet another empty promise—the kind the Kurds have sadly come to expect from American politicians. “Erdogan, leave the Kurds alone. Kurds as you know are wonderful people. There are probably 30-40 million [sic] …living mostly in Turkey, Iran, Northern Iraq & Syria. Kurds are a distinct ethnic group…a stateless country bc they are spread all over the world. The Kurds are America’s friend 🇺🇸 Not many years ago, ISIS established a caliphate in the Middle East, Which America destroyed. The people most responsible for destroying ISIS were the Kurds. We lost less than 20 American lives in destroying ISIS. Our friends the Kurds lost over 10,000 fighting alongside us, and over 30,000 wounded. Without the Kurds, ISIS would still be there. Erdogan doesn’t like the Kurds. Right now Erdogan has troops, tanks & weapons marshaled at border between Turkey & Syria. Any claim that we did so is a lie." Someone is trying to prove that Israel betrayed the Kurds. The Kurds were betrayed by the USA. Trump. Their allies in the fight against ISIS. Not Israel. During the second half of April, Iran launched a series of attacks against Kurdish militias that were being armed by the US for a hypothetical ground operation into Iran. However, Trump’s recent statements regarding his relationship with the Kurds suggest a distancing from these militias, after admitting to having armed them prior to the protests in Iran at the start of the year. Washington has also announced that the Pentagon’s FY2027 budget almost completely eliminates direct funding for the Peshmerga (from $61 million in 2026 to $1.35 million), centralising aid in Baghdad rather than directly supporting Kurdish forces. This leaves Iraqi Kurds in a position of greater dependence on the Iraqi federal government and Iranian Kurds with no chance of extending their prospects of creating a nationalist project in Iran in the event of a hypothetical collapse.

There was no such thing as a religion called Yazidism at that time. Third, the Yazidi religion is originally a religion that deviated from Islam. They are followers of Adi ibn Musafir, the Arab Sunni Umayyad, who was praised by Ibn Taymiyyah. The tomb of Adi (Sheikh Adi) is located in Lalish today, and the Yazidis worship it. Fourth, when a Kurd calls you Kurds, it is because he loves you and sympathizes with you because of what happened to you. Otherwise, your entire sect is of no benefit to the Kurds. Why Iran's Kurds Are the Most Divided Kurdish Population, and Why That Matters Now They speak at least four major dialect groups. They are split along sectarian lines far more deeply than Kurds elsewhere. Kurdish and Persian are both Iranian languages with no sharp linguistic wall between them. And they have lived inside an Iranian state for five centuries. In Iraq, Syria, and Turkey, Kurdish identity confronts Arabic or Turkish across a clear frontier. In Iran, it sits inside a graded continuum of dialect, sect, and civilisation that the state has always found easier to segment and absorb. Linguistically, they are not a compact Sorani-Kurmanji bloc. They are a mosaic. Central Kurdish (Sorani) accounts for roughly 35 to 40% of Iran's Kurds. Southern Kurdish and Laki together make up another 35 to 40%. Kurmanji accounts for about 22 to 27%. Gorani and Hawrami make up a smaller but historically significant remainder. Kurmanji itself is split across radically different settings. The Kurmanji speakers of Khorasan in the northeast are mostly Shia and long integrated into the Iranian state. The Kurmanji speakers of the Urmia belt are overwhelmingly Sunni and tied into the borderland world shaped by proximity to Turkey. Religiously, Iranian Kurds are not overwhelmingly Sunni the way Kurds in Iraq, Syria, and Turkey are.
