Last night, I supervised the collection of garbage from illegal dumping sites along road reserves across Nairobi County. I urge all Nairobi County residents to refrain from handing over their waste to street families or unregistered garbage collectors, as these often end up being dumped illegally along the road reserves. Let us take responsibility for our waste by ensuring it is either brought to designated transfer points within our sub-counties and respective wards or entrusted to a licensed private service provider, registered with the Nairobi County government. Together, we can keep our city clean and protect our shared environment.

Today, 2 June 2026, KCCA Directorate of Public Health and Environment (DPHE) sealed off three commercial buildings along Ntinda–Kisaasi Road following residents’ complaints and findings that wastewater and sewage were being discharged into a stormwater channel. All businesses in the affected buildings have been closed and will only reopen after the landlords rectify their sewerage and drainage systems to meet required standards. Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) DPHE urges all residents, landlords, businesses, and tenants to ensure proper waste management and to refrain from discharging wastewater and sewage into stormwater drains, as this threatens public health and the environment.
