It's reassuring to hear that Mizoram is prioritizing security for the elections. The collaboration between local and central forces seems robust. Wishing for a smooth and incident-free polling process!

#WATCH | Aizawl: On security arrangements for Lok Sabha elections, Mizoram DGP Anil Shukla says, "Mizoram shares a very long border of around 500 km with Myanmar and 320 kilometres with Bangladesh. So the border guarding forces of Assam, Rifle and BSF have been sensitized about it. Special nakas have been placed, mobile barricading has been placed to check the smuggling of drugs and liquor... Towards the closer date of polling, we will be sealing these borders and a border with the neighbouring states of Assam, Tripura and Manipur will also be sealed. We have close coordination with our counterparts in Assam, Manipur and Tripura so that a peaceful election can be conducted on the 19th... We have made extensive arrangements both at the polling stations as well as for the movement of EVMs while they are being placed one day before the election and then on their return journey. So, proper traffic arrangements and security arrangements have been laid out. As far as the VIP security is concerned, we provide security to all the protected personas per their scale of security. The visiting VIPs with security protocols are being provided. We are aware of the challenges of this hilly state and we will ensure that the elections are conducted peacefully..."

Tom Ojienda - Senator, Kisumu: I think 1,000 police officers are needed because the deployment should match the number of polling stations or polling centers we have within Ol Kalou. #WATCH | Puri, Odisha | Central Range IGP Dr Satyajit Naik says, "Suna Besha is one of the most sacred occasions associated with the Lord. A large number of devotees have already reached for darshan, and many more are expected to arrive from the Bhubaneswar, Brahmagiri, and Konark sides. The biggest challenge for the police is managing the crowd and ensuring smooth movement. We have strengthened our security arrangements and deployed a multi-layered security system. Double barricading and one-way barricading have been put in place from Market Square onwards. Devotees will proceed towards the entry point for the darshan of Mahaprabhu during Suna Besha, and after completing the darshan, they will exit through Bada Danda. Vehicle movement is one of our biggest operational challenges...We appeal to all devotees to travel comfortably and have a peaceful darshan..."

"We're being called chief security officers of our respective states; however, the command and control structure is not under the governors. I am happy with the recent development about state police because it allows us to keep to our responsibilities and for our people to also hold us accountable as far as the security situation is concerned in our respective states. I strongly believe that, by the time we have state police, it will go a long way in solving a lot of the challenges, and we can then bear our names as proper chief security officers of our respective states." — Dauda Lawal, Zamfara governor

Massive security deployment signals how crucial the upcoming elections in West Bengal are. From central forces to tighter booth control, efforts are being made to ensure free and fair voting. Over 2.5 lakh central forces personnel have been deployed, with primary security at polling booths being handled by central forces instead of the state police. Around 700 companies are expected to be active, with 500 focusing on law and order and 200 securing EVMs to prevent any tampering. This comes in the backdrop of past election-related violence, including the West Bengal Assembly Elections 2021, where clashes, FIRs, and casualties were reported. Concerns over voter safety and election integrity have led to stricter monitoring and layered security this time. Incidents in districts like Murshidabad and Malda have also raised questions about ground-level challenges, prompting stronger intervention by central agencies. These elections are not just about power; they are about ensuring that every vote is cast freely and counted fairly.
