#WATCH | Delhi: At the ANI National Security Summit 2.0, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh says, "We are proceeding with procurements of 4.5 generation aircraft, our fifth generation fighter program, hopefully entirely indigenous, the AMCA, and as well as various unmanned combat vehicle programs that DRDO and HAL are undertaking..." DRDO Chairman Dr Samir V Kamat says, "I think the role of fighter aircraft is not going to go away in the near future, at least the next 15, 20 years. What will happen is the man-unmanned teaming. The manned fighter and the unmanned aircrafts will have to work together, as the Defence Secretary said, in a networked environment to get the most effective solution to do attack options." Chief of Integrated Defence Staff Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit says, "...In our lifetime, we are not going to see the demise of fighter aircraft. However, fighter aircraft will be carrying three or four loyal wingmen with them that we will see in the next four or five years."

If you look at globally also, any engine development program takes between 10-13 years to reach maturity before it can be integrated with the platform. So, if the CCS gives a sanction this year, I would assume that by 2035-2036, the engine would be ready for integration. Then it would go through the acceptance trials. We will do the development trials of the engine much before with the platform but the final acceptance trials will start at 2035. The first two squadrons of AMCA will be delivered with a GE F414 engine. This will come only subsequently. AMCA delivery should start by 2034-2035."

#WATCH | Delhi: On the status of partnership between HAL and the Russian side for Su-57, HAL CMD Chairman Dr DK Sunil says, "I think presentations have been made regarding the Su-57 to the Air Force team by the Russian team regarding capabilities of the aircraft. We have had one estimation of the capacity of our Plants for the Russian equipment. A committee of Russians has also studied and said that roughly 50% of the facilities can be used for producing this aircraft but some new investments will be required. We are very confident with this system and it will be a gamechanger for our services...This will have much more capabilities than our current BrahMos missile because it travels much faster than what BrahMos can and it will have a much higher range.
