🌡️ Unusually intense May heatwave in Europe This weekend will bring very high temperatures to southwestern, western, and partly central Europe, locally up to 15 °C above the long-term average. The reason is a persistent high-pressure system over Europe, drawing in hot air from North Africa along its western flank and acting as a so-called heat dome. Air in the center of the high sinks and warms, suppressing cloud formation and allowing more solar radiation to reach the surface. As a result, hot air accumulates near the ground and continues to intensify. Temperatures may exceed 30 °C in western and central Europe, and reach up to 38 °C in southwestern Spain. Numerous daily temperature records are expected to be broken.

Impressive dust devil in Greensboro today! These can form on sunny days with strong surface heating. Low pressure develops at the surface as air rises, then you get a swirling motion as air rushes in to fill in the gaps. This is a construction site - full of dirt which heats up more intensely. A crash involving a KFC semi-truck in the Branson area quickly turned chaotic after the trailer overturned and released thousands of chickens onto the roadway. Video shows the highway covered as chickens scattered in every direction, running between vehicles and across lanes while traffic came to a halt. Drivers were seen stopping and reacting as the scene spread across the road, with chickens continuing to pour out and fill the surrounding area. What started as a single crash quickly turned into a widespread mess as the situation unfolded within seconds.
