When she tried to pay, they only take card payments and didn’t have a slot to put cash either. She attempted to have another customer use their card to pay and she would give them the money but they left before she could do so. Places like this that only take cash should clearly have signs that indicate that, this one did not. A lot has been made of taxes proposed by Democrats that never passed the General Assembly, including a bill to tax streaming services and more. Republicans, including President Trump, have attacked Governor Abigail Spanberger over that bill and others. Spanberger has pushed back, saying the bill (along with others) never passed the General Assembly and therefore never reached her desk. Yesterday, I asked Governor Abigail Spanberger if a bill to tax streaming services, dry cleaning, and more does make it to her desk as governor in the future, would she veto it or would she sign it into law?

She left the hospital and just received the bill It’s over $27,000 and she has an entire stack of bills from this one visit. This woman joined friends for dinner, during the dinner she had noticed they were ordering multiple appetizers, allot of drinks, high priced entrees. When it was time to pay the bill they insisted that they split the bill evenly amongst themselves. She refused to do so because she knew she barely ordered anything and she would owe way less than everyone. Of course the people who ordered allot of food started mocking her and calling her broke, she ended up only paying what she owed and she left. Did she do the right thing or did she go against the will of the group?

‼️ Yesterday, in the NM House Consumer and Public Affairs Committee, Rep Stefani Lord and I were disrespected, silenced, and Rep. Jimmy Mason was treated terribly by the committee chair Joanne Ferrary. She: 1️⃣ Complained and scolded us that the House GOP had a caucus, which delayed the committee, and complained about us having to meet although the GOP ALWAYS waits for the Democrats’ caucus. 2️⃣ Pushed ALL of our Republican bills that were ahead on the agenda to the very bottom — even though Rep. Mason had experts waiting all day. She let all the Democrats hear their bills first. 3️⃣ Silenced Rep. Lord from debating a bill although she was on the list of people to ask questions and then only after we made points of order did she relent (at that one interval). 4️⃣ Encouraged the audience’s disrespectful noises and comments during my line of questioning on a bill that I had legitimate questions about. 5️⃣ Constantly interrupted Rep. Lord as she asked Rep. Mason questions, demanding that she only ask the one question, “Does this bill repeal a section of law” although the bill did so many things that the public deserved to hear about. 6️⃣ Allowed constant interruptions from Rep. Liz Thomson while I was speaking, which was another flagrant violation of order. 7️⃣ Cut off debate on Rep. Mason’s bill and only allowed me 10 minutes to ask questions, then threatened to go into recess. After the vote (where Democrats tabled the bill), the chair made the committee go into recess and did not hear Rep. Andrea “Andy” Reeb’s bill that she was waiting for four hours to hear. Lastly, I was told after I made a personal point of privilege following all of this unnecessary drama that I would be addressing the speaker about this flagrant disregard of the rules. Ferrari callously snapped back, “Yeah, good luck with that.” Shame on this detestable way to treat colleagues. This abuse of WE THE PEOPLE must stop NOW.

Had an interesting conversation this weekend with an older relative who's politics are "just be a good person". She's relatively wealthy and gives to the types of causes you would expect this type of person to give. She gives her time too. She is actually a good person. I asked her if she was ever concerned that the causes she gave to would reduce the proportion of people like her in the world. She said that she thought the opposite. That she was inspired by the generosity and kindness of others, and that by giving she would increase the proportion of people like her. I said I believed she inspires her peers, but her peers aren't the people she's giving money to. Do they become productive and generous people, like her? Or is she just increasing the proportion of people who are takers and don't give anything back? Despite decades of generosity, this was clearly a question she had never thought about. The implications made her uncomfortable, and the conversation basically ended after that.
