Today, I signed the BEAM Act. This bill requires intelligent speed assistance devices for drivers who are found guilty of driving in a dangerous manner above the speed limit. No other family should have to go through what the families with me at this bill signing went through. Grateful to prime sponsor Rep. Mari Leavitt for this bill, and to the families who spoke out about the loss of their loved ones so that other Washingtonians could be safer.

After much thought and consideration, I have decided to vote 'No' on the Assisted Dying for Terminally Ill Adults (Scotland) Bill. Firstly, there is a real fear that vulnerable people, including women who have suffered domestic abuse, could be coerced into taking their own lives. Secondly, many disabled people fear that their lives will be devalued and could be pushed to take their lives. Thirdly, the scope of this bill could be widened to include more illnesses and younger ages, as has been the case in other countries. Instead of creating a pathway for people to end their lives, we should be strengthening the palliative care services that help them live their final days with dignity, comfort and support.

In the video, you can see agents stop a car and immediately demand ID, without a warrant or probable cause. That is illegal. After running the ID, the agents get back in their vehicle and leave, because they never had the right to stop the person in the first place. This is what the Trump administration is trying to normalize… Masked agents pulling people over at random, demanding papers, and kidnapping U.S. citizens who don’t have their IDs, or if the agents aren’t able to identify them in their system. That is not legal. That is a direct violation of the United States Constitution… And it should terrify anyone who still cares about freedom.
