It’s true If you view yourself as an American first rather than a victim of history, you manifest a more positive life with more opportunities. Mindset shapes reality. But there is a fine line between moving forward and running away. Many Black individuals completely detach from their roots, surrounding themselves exclusively with white partners and friends to escape a collective mindset they view as stuck. You can build your own success without erasing who you are; being Black is something to celebrate, not leave behind. Everyone should be proud of where they came from for the simple fact that you’re existing and every group of people has a history to tell.

Not all black people endured the same things. Some black people owned black slaves and some black people were slaves. Some black people sold other black people into slavery.

For example….if SAS or any black American person is in a foreign land and needs to get out via the US embassy…..they will not approach the embassy and say they are “black” first!!!! The broadest share of black wealth globally is in the USA. When a black individual comes out of the womb in America, they are basically one of the luckiest black people on earth in terms of wealth building opportunities 🙏 I’m proud that my country has overcome so many parts of our past, and that we honestly still seek to do so..

I cant imagine basing my ability 2 thrive on what happed 2 a relative I never met. I do think some of my strengths are passed down to me in tradition that makes me stronger than most. I know I gave my kids a fortitude that barely exists in society anymore.

My son is the only mixed person in my all white household. We rarely talk about race. I mean, it’s not like a forbidden topic by any means, it’s just such a silly thing to hyper-focus on.

I think Stephen A is about halfway there. He acknowledges that you shouldn’t use the horrible things done to black people in the past as a crutch but at the same time he still wants to dwell on it. Which conflicts with not using it as a crutch. It’s confusing. We should NEVER forget our past and history, but to be in 2026 using those things as a reason as to why you aren’t successful is ridiculous
