He stated that the killing of the woman accused of spreading obscenity, allegedly orchestrated by Amritpal Mehron, was the right step. Giani Malkit Singh claimed that certain individuals hide their true identities to defame other religions by promoting vulgarity, which he described as unacceptable and against the principles of faith. He further added that such incidents have occurred in the past as well and urged the youth to refrain from listening to obscene and vulgar songs.

UPDATE | Amritpal Singh and other WPD members currently detained under the NSA, which is set to expire next month, are currently on hunger strike after finding secret spy cameras set up in their Dibrugarh jail washroom. It is believed that the camera was set up to capture footage that can be used for blackmail if the Sikh political prisoners are released after the lapsing of the one year limit on arbitrary NSA detentions. The health of the prisoners is worsening, explains WPD lawyer Imaan Singh Khalra and Amritpal Singh's brother Harpreet Singh, as they demand to be transferred to a Punjab prison as their constitutional rights are being infringed in Assam. A demonstration has also been set up outside the Darbar Sahib Complex by WPD members and supporters, which SAD(A) leader Simranjit Singh Mann visited. He shared that if the government does not raise its concerns over the safety of these Sikh political prisoners, and get them transferred to Punjab, they will proceed to block rail lines within five days.
