Finding that learning on the other side of discomfort

When you start with the brown color, do you find it giving you more contrast with your color?

Ideally it gives me a more neutral color on which to select the correct colors/values. It sure beats white. Also the bits of warmth that still poke through later in the process often work well in landscapes.
