Oh, you mean you didn't notice the over 200 cameras scanning faces 24/7? Well, they're here, and many are located in the city's French Quarter. For years, over 15 million people who visit this neighborhood annually have been quietly documented while local police were automatically notified if AI software found a match to a person of interest. The problem? AI isn't always accurate, and it has more errors among people with darker skin tones, women, children, and the elderly. Because of these limitations, privacy experts agree that AI-generated facial recognition matches will lead to wrongful arrests. Which is why when the New Orleans City Council first allowed police to use facial recognition technology in 2022, they chose to protect privacy and ban any mass generalized surveillance of the public, except the police did it anyway with the help of a local nonprofit that owns and operates the cameras. It wasn't until the spring of 2025 that the AI-generated alerts were first revealed to the public and turned off. Solid waste dumping sites are emerging as new disease hotspots in Kashmir. As the Yatra nears Padgampora, Awantipora (NH1), defunct dumping has made the area hazardous. Stray dogs are attacking residents dozens injured, including children. Four such sites in Pulwama need urgent attention. Requesting intervention from J&K Housing & Urban Development Department Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs Deputy Commissioner Pulwama Atal Dulloo FYI Office of Chief Minister, J&K.
