All non-commercial vehicles will no longer need a vehicle safety inspection prior to being registered in Texas. A few things to keep in mind: ◾All non-commercial vehicles in the state will be subject to a $7.50 inspection program replacement fee. This fee will be added to your total when you register your vehicle with the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles. ◾A select number of counties will still require emissions tests, which drivers will need to complete prior to their vehicle registration.
