I am happy with the recent development about state police because it allows us to keep to our responsibilities and for our people to also hold us accountable as far as the security situation is concerned in our respective states. To clarify the 5 Billion Naira Allocation for Palliative to various states of the Country, Plateau State Government has received 2 Billion which includes a 52% grant component and 48% loan component. Part of the 5 billion Naira, we have been mandated to use 1 billion Naira to buy rice locally. This is to ensure that money circulates within the local economy. Along with the allocation, 3,000 bags of rice was received and has been shared to the Local Governments and I want to pledge my honor that not a single kobo of the 5 billion Naira will be misused. We have also set up a committee which will advice the Government on possible palliative options which we will look at so that it covers the wide spectrum of the society. We will be looking at issues like improving the bursary of our students, getting fertilizers at a subsidized rate for our farmers and all the other components we can look at within the constraint of the resources at our disposal. By the Grace of God, we will do this responsibly.

Aishatu Mairiga didn’t just speak for the female children of Zamfara State, she spoke for all Nigerian girls.🩵 It’s commendable that Governor Dauda Lawal and the First Lady, Hajiya huriyya lawal , have placed strong emphasis on female education. Their unwavering support and contributions toward uplifting and empowering the girl child cannot be overstated. I recall around this time last year, the Zamfara State Government, through the Office of the First Lady, offered fully funded scholarships to capable women across all 14 LGAs in the state to study at state-based universities. I had the privilege of assisting in identifying potential female beneficiaries, particularly from underprivileged and low-income families. Furthermore, the Zamfara State Government, through the Office of the First Lady, is actively involved in various empowerment, sensitisation, and healthcare initiatives for women. These efforts include the distribution of sanitary pads, educational materials, business empowerment, financial aid, and medical support to women across the state. Aishatu’s words touched everyone’s heart so deeply that Governor Dauda Lawal couldn’t wait for the microphone to respond to her question. Education is a right not a privilege. May Zamfara succeed. May Nigeria succeed. May Governor Dauda Lawal succeed.

The attached video features Dr. Mohamed Nur Ga’al, Speaker of the Galmudug State Parliament, speaking yesterday at a forum in Mogadishu about the Federal Government’s handling of the ongoing Galmudug parliamentary election. His candid account, which drew both applause and laughter, laid bare the extraordinary irony of the Federal Government’s unilateral approach and the subordination of Federal Member States. The so-called “direct election,” presented as a major democratic milestone for Somalia, has, in his telling, reduced an entire state leadership to the status of bystanders. Dr. Ga’al began by explaining that both Galmudug and Southwest State had effectively been excluded from the process: “We (Galmudug State) and Southwest State are in the same situation. I do not know whether the Benadir Regional Administration had any role in their election, but as for us, we have been sidelined. The Galmudug administration was told by the Federal Government that we would have no input or role in the election.” He then described the only option left to members of his administration: “We were told that if any of us wanted to run and keep our seats, we were free to compete.” He concluded with perhaps the most striking observation: “But as things stand now, our entire administration in Galmudug is effectively a guest of the Federal Government. If they give us something, we are grateful; if they deny us something, we simply surrender.” This is one of the most astonishing political admissions I have heard in years.

We should see that planting trees is important, but also if the government is pushing the directive of planting 15 billion trees, if it were real to me, I feel like we should not have issues of cutting down Karura Forest.
