the view from inside the landing gear system as the wheel touches down.

Honestly, I don’t perceive an extreme diving angle. Quite surprising technique, though.

I was not aware 17's could activate thrust reversers in the air. I would have thought they would be tied into the weight-on-wheels system.

fantastic video 👏🏾

What? That’s insane. Physics are physics, that must be very violent. The plane must’ve be constructed for this, otherwise it’ll tear the wings apart from the fuselage.

WoW, deployment of mid air thrust reverser is not something you see everyday and if I am not wrong it is banned in commercial airliners except after touching ground

How does this make sense? Just push the stick forward and bring the engines back.

The amount of stress on that airframe 😳you can see as the reverse thrusters deploy the wings shake violently

The DC-8 did not have speed brakes and used this procedure for emergency descent. It was cool to do during training.

The plane was designed to takeoff and land on extremely short runways. Making it possible to get in and out of tight locations easily. It was also the 1st to use commercial engines making an engine swap quick and easy if needed.
