I remember when I was born again and began my journey, reading the Bible, and praying, the first thing I felt was a great pull to Him. The overwhelming love. The second thing I knew undoubtedly was, I was afraid of Him, as I should be, He is the Almighty.

He was my Pastor when I lived in Charlotte 36 years ago and baptized me.

Jesus did not teach that we should be afraid of His Father (God) in the sense of terror or dread. Instead, He emphasized God's loving, generous nature as a Father who cares deeply for His children. The closest and most direct statement comes in Luke 12:32 (NIV):โDo not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom.โ Here, Jesus explicitly tells His disciples not to be afraid, reassuring them that the Father is delighted to bestow the kingdom upon them. This portrays God as a benevolent Father who provides and protects, removing any basis for fear.Broader Context in Jesus' TeachingsJesus often contrasted worldly fears with trust in God:He taught that God the Father knows our needs, values us more than sparrows, and even numbers the hairs on our heads (Luke 12:6โ7, 24โ31; Matthew 10:29โ31). This leads into the encouragement: Do not fear, because your Father is good and generous. However, Jesus did teach a proper "fear" of Godโnot as cringing terror, but as reverent awe and respect for His ultimate authority:In Matthew 10:28 (and parallel in Luke 12:4โ5), He says: โDo not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, fear the one who can destroy both soul and body in hell.โThis "fear" directs us to prioritize God over human threats, acknowledging His power over eternal destiny. For believers who trust in Jesus, this reverence replaces any slavish fear (Romans 8:15; 1 John 4:18: โThere is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fearโ). Jesus revealed God as โAbba, Fatherโ (an intimate, trusting term like โDaddyโ in Mark 14:36), inviting us into a relationship of confidence, not summary, Jesus taught not to be afraid of the Father, but to trust His loving provisionโwhile maintaining holy reverence for His greatness.

Religion is like a system of rules and doctrines that can stand in the way of the personal relationship with the Lord. Religion binds you: do this, do that in the name of God! Believe only in Jesus the Messiah, he sets you free, he is the only one and gives you eternal life, religion does not. Most religion is self-interest and laws for most churches. I also know churches where you are required to wear certain costumes, and if you don't, you will be looked at angrily or even ignored. But fortunately, there are Christian churches where you are free in the word of God; they also preach about the Rapture and not just about the second coming. And good church is there for you where you feel free and who can explain everything to you about the Rapture and the second coming and know the difference between the day of Christ and the day of the Lord.

Amen! I wholeheartedly agree!

Amen, amen, amen. They lost respect for God. They need a wakeup call, and that's why I have no respect for a lot of so-called Christians.

Amen ๐ฏ๐ฏ๐ฏ True Fact. ๐๐พโ๏ธ๐๐๐พโค๏ธ

look...his generation wants nothing more than what we are doing wrong and God is pissed about my lack of religion. EGO. It's all ego. Prayer is talking to God, meditation is listening to him. Try some meditation my dude.

Religion binds you, Jesus sets you free ๐๐ฝ

Yes. I agree. And many churches do not exegete the Bible in context. Many church members don't read or study the Scriptures. I pray that these admonitions will encourage them to do so.

This guy scare meโฆ no godโฆ this crazy nut job

He who does not have God has eternal death, no heaven nothing.

Amen ๐๐ป

Don't be afraid of God, love Him and respect Him, His Word and His ways. When the Bible says "fear the Lord" it means respect Him. It doesn't mean be afraid of Him. How can you love someone and be afraid of them at the same time? You can't.

Amen๐

I can follow that logic. Just like a parent we should respect and fear our parents. The generation now thinks they need to be a friend to their children. Look where that is going.

Absolutely

The Fear of GOD is to be in total Darkness with out HIM! Thatโs the Fear ๐ง of GOD!

Amen

This is spot on.

Amen, absolute truth

Amen

THANK YOU SIR

So true!

Agree with most, but being afraid of God and having a fear of God it's not the same. I fear the Lord -reverential respect- but I'm not afraid of Him because he is my loving Father. Same with my earthly dad ๐

๐ฅ๐ฅ. Sp true and true indeed

Almighty God hates religion

This is whatโs missing today! Thanks for posting! Time is short, VERY short!

Amen!!

the word fear used in Proverbs actually means reverence, respect, piety It does not mean be afraid. also we are saved by grace through faith and not by works Grace from sin, not grace to sin

In the Bible, "fear" means not so much pure fear, but rather deep awe, reverence, and respect for God, acknowledging who He is and acknowledging His authority, leading to obedience and a life that honors Him, a "fear of the Lord" that is the "beginning of wisdom" (Job 28:28). It is a combination of wonder, reverence, and a conscious choice to follow God, even with a sense of "shaking" of awe, as in Ephesians 6:5 or among the shepherds in Luke 2:9, where it means "great awe," do not panic. ๐๐ฝ

In the Hebrew Bible, "fear" (Hebrew: yirah - ืึดืจึฐืึธื) is a complex concept, primarily meaning reverent awe, wonder, and deep respect for God's greatness, rather than mere terror, though it can also describe dread (pachad - ืคึธึผืึทื). The "Fear of the Lord" (Yirat Adonai) is a positive quality, central to wisdom and a proper relationship with God, involving obedience, love, and a profound sense of His majesty, prompting worship and righteous living.

Amen

I love listening to him. He is a great messenger of God's word
