Officers were called to Thompson Avenue, Lotusville, after suspects in a white Hyundai i20 attempted a home break-in, which was interrupted by a 17-year-old resident. The suspects fled but crashed their vehicle on an unpaved road in Cornubia. Three suspects ran on foot, with two firing at officers, who returned fire. A fourth suspect, a 52-year-old Tanzanian, was found hiding in the vehicle. He confirmed his accomplices are from Burundi. Despite an extensive search, the other suspects remain at large.

Police are also seeking two more suspects in this investigation. On November 23, 2024 at approximately 3:20 a.m., a spa in the area of Dufferin Street and Wilson Avenue in Toronto was robbed at gunpoint by three suspects. An hour later, at approximately 4:20 a.m., a second robbery occurred at a spa in the area of Birchmount Road and 14th Avenue in Markham. Three suspects forced their way into the business while armed with a firearm. They stole one of the victim’s vehicles and fled with a quantity of cash. In both incidents the suspects arrived in a stolen white Acura. On November 28, 2024, investigators located the stolen Acura and three suspects were taken into custody for possession of the stolen vehicle. On December 6, 2024, at approximately 1 a.m., a third armed robbery of a spa occurred in the area of Victoria Park Avenue and Steeles Avenue in Toronto. On December 8, 2024, two additional robberies were reported, one at approximately 3:20 a.m., in the area of Carlingview Drive and Renforth Drive, and the other at 3:45 a.m., in the area of Finch Avenue and Keele Street. In both incidents the suspects arrived at the scene in a stolen Toyota Highlander. On December 10, 2024, two search warrants were executed at residences in the City of Toronto with the assistance of the York Regional Police Emergency Response Unit. One suspect was taken into custody. A warrant has been issued for an additional suspect, and investigators are seeking to identify two other outstanding suspects. Investigators are releasing images of the adult suspects as they believe there are more victims. A list of suspects and their charges can be found here. Three of the charged parties were on release orders and weapons prohibitions at the time of their arrests. A multi disciplinary team operationalised intelligence information about cash-in-transit suspects traveling in a Toyota fortuner SUV vehicle from KwaZulu-Natal to Gauteng. The team kept surveillance on the N3 road for the vehicle. Upon attempting to stop it, the vehicle sped off and a chase ensued which resulted in a shootout between the suspects and the police. Three suspects were shot dead and two unlicensed firearms were recovered in the suspects' vehicle. This incident was a continuation of an intelligence operation conducted in Msinga area on 03 July 2025 by law enforcement officers from Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal which resulted in two suspects being fatally wounded and two arrested. They coordinated with responding patrol officers who converged, pinned in the car and arrested all three outstanding suspects following a short foot chase. Four youth aged 14-17 are now in custody. Outstanding work between on-site security, plain-clothes and responding patrol officers and dispatch allowed for a swift coordinated arrest within minutes of the robbery attempt! Officers, responding to reports of a robbery on Riverview Road, identified and apprehended the suspects based on a description from a caller. Two Okapi knives used in the robbery were recovered. The same trio had previously robbed the 73-year-old victim on Monday, stealing his shotgun. They returned yesterday, held him at knifepoint, and were caught after his wife alerted authorities.
