Peter Kreeft: (snip)If there is no first cause, then the universe is like a railroad train moving without an engine. Each car's motion is explained proximately by the motion of the car in front of it.

Keep in mind that there is no proof of the existence of God, nor that God created the universe. Meyer is not an astrophysicist, but a hack working for the Discovery Institute, proponent of "intelligent design"

@DennisPrager At what point does the incomprehensibility of the universe’s creation go from being a limitation of our scientific ability to something more profound and perhaps indistinguishable from God?

Or it could be the collapse of a previous universe. But sure. I bet some campfire stories from eons ago in the middle east were totally right, and it was invisible sky wizard.

Why not just admit the obvious: "we don't know". It's okay to accept that we have not, yet, figured out every answer. Making up stories about supernatural gods to fill that void is useless other than to make gullible people feel better. By the way, where did your God come from?

As I understand it, the current "scientific" dodge is to posit that the universe is eternal and is in a constant state of flux, so that the "Big Bang" was not the one beginning, but only one in an everlasting series of beginnings.
