Turkish Bayraktar TB3 UCAVs successfully flew in extreme winter conditions over the Baltic Sea during NATO’s Steadfast Dart 2026 exercise, the only aircraft able to operate in the harsh weather in the exercise. Operating from TCG ANADOLU, the TB3 took off and landed autonomously in -5°C temperatures, heavy snow, and strong winds. Other aircraft reportedly could not fly due to weather conditions.

Turkish Navy Commander Admiral Ercüment Tatlıoğlu at NATO's Steadfast Dart 2026 Exercise: For this exercise, the Turkish Navy deployed the Anadolu Turkish Maritime Task Force to the Baltic Sea, comprising approximately 1,500 personnel with multi-domain operational capability. The task force includes TCG Anadolu, TCG Derya, TCG Istanbul, TCG Oruçreis, an amphibious maritime battalion, landing craft, helicopters, Bayraktar TB3 unmanned combat aerial vehicle systems, and more. The Turkish Navy is demonstrating power projection capability at this scale within the allied framework, and we used our UAVs for the first time in an amphibious operation to soften the beachhead. This formation is a significant force multiplier, aligned with NATO’s new force model and high readiness requirements. During its three-month deployment, the task force will participate in additional exercises and conduct port visits. We continue to establish maritime presence in the Baltic Sea, Indian Ocean, Arabic Gulf, and surrounding seas of Türkiye.

On December 6, the Liaoning aircraft carrier formation conducted carrier-based aircraft training after passing through the Miyako Strait, according to yuyuantantian. At 2:10 pm, the Liaoning formation organized the Warship 101 to issue a notification with the message: "Our formation organizes shipborne aircraft flight training as planned." The Japanese destroyer Teruzuki confirmed receipt of the Chinese notification via radio. At 2:28 pm, the Liaoning formation organized the Warship 101 to issue another, more detailed notification: "Our formation plans to conduct carrier-based aircraft flight training, expected to commence at 3 pm, lasting approximately 6 hours, primarily in the area south of the aircraft carrier."
