My NRC colleagues in Lebanon are witnessing horrific scenes of destruction and death in civilian areas. Bombardment of civilian areas is a grave violation of humanitarian law. There must be an immediate ceasefire, Israel and Hezbollah must stop their attacks, and Israel must withdraw from the Lebanese territory it currently occupies.

The IDF’s discovery of Hezbollah’s underground compound is yet more proof of UNIFIL’s failure to stop Hezbollah’s military buildup along our northern border, in clear violation of Resolution 1701. Anyone who is defending the attacks on Israel by Hamas is defending terrorism. Israel has the right to retaliate and defend their territory, as seen below. I get it, that Palestinians believe that Israel belongs to them, but that doesn't warrant an outright attack on the citizens. There are a lot of people who disagree with borders and boundaries, but that doesn't make it OK to invade and attack.
