Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have rescued 10 National Examinations Council (NECO) candidates and teachers who were abducted by ISWAP terrorists during an attack on the Technical Secondary School in Lassa Community, Askira/Uba Local Government Area, at about 9:00 a.m. on Monday. The terrorists attacked the school and abducted several students and teachers during exams before fleeing into the surrounding bush. Upon receiving the distress report, the Theatre Command of Operation HADIN KAI immediately launched a search and rescue mission. The NAF deployed both strike aircraft and ISR platforms to support ground troops as they pursued the fleeing terrorists. Troops established contact with the terrorists around the Daggu axis, triggering a fierce firefight. The troops outmanoeuvred the insurgents, inflicting heavy casualties and forcing the fleeing terrorists to abandon some of their captives as they retreated. The operation resulted in the successful rescue of 10 abducted victims, including students and teachers, all of whom were recovered unharmed.

DRC President Tshisekedi Donates Pickup Trucks To UPDF’s Operation Shujaa Beni, Friday 31 August 2026 The President of the Democratic Republic of Congo His excellency Felix Tshisekedi has gifted the Uganda peoples Defence Forces under Operation Shujaa with ten brand new Land cruser utility pick up trucks as a way of appreciation for the job well done in fighting the Allied Democratic Forces ( ADF ) terrorists, who have for long terrorised people in the two countries of Congo and Uganda especially eastern DRC. While handing over the vehicles on behalf of the president, the Governor North Kivu Maj Gen Somo Kakule Evariste said the president was appreciative of the good working relationship between the DRC government and Uganda, and the two Armies joint operations against the ADF terrorists. The vehicles will help in intensifying operations against the remaining ADF terrorists in order to restore complete security in the region. The Ituri governor appreciated the efforts of the joint forces FARDC and UPDF for the peace and calm in eastern DR congo . Maj Gen Stephen Mugerwa, the UPDF Joint Task Force commander Operation Shujaa and and commander of the Mountain infantry Division received the vehicles on behalf of the UPDF and the Ugandan government. Speaking at the same function in Beni Maj Gen Mugerwa, on behalf of the Commander In Chief His Excellency Gen Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the President of Uganda and the Chief of Defence Forces UPDF Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, thanked His Excellency President Tshisekedi for the good gesture towards the UPDF and promised that the joint forces will not rest until all the ADF terrorists are wiped out completely from Eastern DRC. From the time operation Shujaa was launched in November 2021, a number of remarkable achievements have been registered by the joint forces FARDC and UPDF. Among them, relative peace has been restored in eastern DRC, Displaced people have been able to go back to their homes, thousands of abductees have been rescued, ADF has been degraded, and most of its senior commanders have been put out of action. In addition, schools have reopened and inter regional trade has significantly been boasted. Similarly, infrastructure projects such as a number of roads are being worked on. They include Beni - Khasindi, Beni - Biakato, Biakato Mangina and Luna Komanda among others .This development has seen the volume of cargo trucks increase from 13000 a months to 30000 plus between the two countries. Operation Shujaa is an on going military offensive conducted by the Uganda Peoples Defence Forces and Forces Armees de la Republique du Congo (FARDC) against the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) in Kivu and Ituri regions. The operation was launched in November 2021 following a series of bomb attacks in the Capital Kampala. The ADF attacks prompted the Ugandan President Gen Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to declare that the ADF militants would be hunted down in their hideouts. President Museveni subsequently met with the president of the DRC Felix Tshishekedi and the two agreed to organise a joint operation force against the regional terrorists.

Two students from the same family were seriously injured after falling from a KSRTC bus near the MRPL petrol pump on Reshme Road in Kaliya village. The incident occurred while they were traveling from Gerukatte to their school in Belthangady. As the bus approached Reshme Road, the door suddenly opened, causing both students to lose balance and fall onto the road. They were immediately rushed to hospitals in Belthangady and Ujire for treatment. One of the students was on her way to appear for the SSLC exam, while the other is a second-year PUC student. Sainik School Tragedy: Bail Hearing Ends in Controversy In a shocking turn of events, the bail hearing of the accused students in the Sainik School student death case ended with the Principal Magistrate of the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) recusing himself from giving an order. According to Tadu Nancy, the victim's sister, the Principal Magistrate abruptly left the courtroom without providing a proper reason. The JJB later passed a verdict, stating that the accused students would be placed under the custody of the Vice Principal, where the accused students will be staying separately at the school, instead of being sent to a juvenile home. This decision has sparked widespread outrage, with many questioning the fairness of the judicial process. The parents of the other students studying at Sainik School have expressed deep concern over the safety of their children, especially since the accused students are still in the school under the Vice Principal's custody. They have alleged that the accused students, were seen playing and eating with other students after the Principal Magistrate sent the 8 CCLs(child in conflict with law) under the custody of Vice Principal of Sainik School on 4th of November, which has further fueled their anger and frustration. The CCTV footage of the incident has revealed chilling details about the extent of the bullying and harassment that the victim suffered. According to the footage, the Class 8 students started giving punishment to Haro for 30 minutes, during which his legs were shivering and after that the Class 10 students collectively punished all the Class 7 students together, and then they punished the victim alongside with a another student and then again they punished the victim alone. The footage also shows that a Class 11 student intervened to stop the punishment, but the damage had already been done. The victim was allegedly harassed mentally and physically for three hours before the incident occurred. The family has demanded that the accused students be removed from the school and placed in a juvenile home until the case is resolved. They have also demanded that the school take strict measures to prevent bullying and ensure the safety of all students. Three more students have been implicated in the incident. Initially, it was stated that these three students were not involved, but a review of the CCTV footage has revealed that they were indeed involved in the alleged ragging and physical a result, the parents of the victim have announced that they will file a complaint against these three students as well. The next bail hearing in the case is scheduled for November 15. The parents have urged the authorities to check the backup of the CCTV footage for the past 15 days and to take action against all the students involved in the incident. The case has sparked widespread outrage, with many demanding strict action against those responsible.
