Watching Azzi Fudd shoot at practice today and really noticed how she doesn’t “load” before she lets it fly. Every other player brings the ball down before getting to their pocket; hers just goes straight up. That half a second makes a world of difference in her release speed.

I call it a slide out… where the player with the ball is faced up to the defender, they slide laterally (slightly downhill) to move the defender, the ball hangs in their pocket, then they read the defender and can SHOOT, DROP N DRIVE, or COUNTER N DRIVE
