Watching Benicio del Toro drive Leonardo DiCaprio around in #OneBattleAfterAnother while slamming Modelos (just a couple small ones), instantly reminded me of del Toro behind the wheel in Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas. There are few- if any- actors who can do what this man does.

During a post-release promo, Leonardo DiCaprio and Benicio Del Toro discussed the post-film fates of their characters. DiCaprio speculates that Bob would still be doing small time gigs as part of a band. Del Toro revealed that there was a deleted scene showing him back at the dojo in the closing montage revealing that his character did at least come out of his run in with the law in one piece. - “One Battle After Another” (2025), dir. Watching Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is like taking a drug - it’s literally intoxicating. When you put prime Johnny Depp, Benicio del Toro & Terry Gilliam together, this is what you get: two hours of beautiful, chaotic Cinema. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve watched this film - the number is over 10 by now. I wouldn’t change a second of this movie.

Watching Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is like taking a drug - it’s literally intoxicating. When you put prime Johnny Depp, Benicio del Toro & Terry Gilliam together, this is what you get: two hours of beautiful, chaotic Cinema. Benicio del Toro originally did NOT want to shoot the entire scene with dialogue. In the script, Alejandro was supposed to give a long speech before killing Alarcón’s family. But del Toro told Denis Villeneuve: “Alejandro would never waste words. He would just do it.” Villeneuve agreed — and they cut almost all the dialogue, making the scene nearly silent except for a few lines. This decision changed the whole tone of the ending. The quiet, calm atmosphere — Alejandro sitting down, the family frozen, and then the sudden gunshots — became far more terrifying and realistic. 🍿 Sicario (2015)
