Watching Benjamin Crump eat a snack during a serious interview about Nolan Wells struck me as unprofessional and distracting. More importantly, I question the decision to bring him in as a spokesperson for this case. From what has been publicly reported, there has been no evidence presented that Nolan’s...

CBS’s Ed O'Keefe: “He sidestepped a — a judge and a jury's decisions on the cases involving his son. He criticized the political nature of the prosecution. The next president has spent the last several years vowing to upend the justice Department and the FBI. Looking at their current and future presidents, Why should any American continue to have confidence in the American justice system?” KJP: “Well, the President does have confidence in the American justice system, um — and he said that in his statement, certainly — uh — continues to have confidence in the Department of Justice — uh — what he —” O’Keefe: “Two leaders who —” KJP: “Oh, okay.” O’Keefe: “— single out incidents that involve them or their families and say — ” KJP: “Well, can I —” O’Keefe: “— ‘well, it wouldn’t be fair to me, but the rest of you should agree with it.’” KJP: “— I — can I — can I just be very blunt here? Uh — the situation with Hunter Biden and what the incoming president has said are very different.” O’Keefe: “But they're making similar arguments —” KJP: “Well — yeah — but —” O’Keefe: “— which is that they've been unfairly prosecuted because of who they are.” KJP: “— but — but I don't think, I don't think those two things are the same. I just don't. I don't — they're not the same. They're just not — and — um — and I think the American people understand that. I do. I do think they believe and understand that they're not the same. Uh — what the president's son had to go through — uh — and what we've heard from legal experts, former U.S. attorneys general who look at this case, who understand this case and have said, this would not — virtually — there would not be the situation — uh — and I think that's important to note as well, and they've been very clear about this. We've heard from many of them — legal experts, former U.S. attorneys — uh — from across the country again, have all agreed virtually no one would be criminally prosecuted with felony offenses with these facts. I talked about these facts as it relates to the gun charges and tax cases that — that obviously — uh — Hunter Biden's case, and so that is — uh — uh — you take their word for it. You can take their word for it.”

His name is Nolan Xavier Wells. He was an eighteen-year-old Southwest Mississippi Community College student and athlete, described by those who knew him as “an extremely kind young man who was always willing to uplift others.” Nolan was reported missing by his mother on July 4th after he failed to return home from a boat trip with “friends” to Horn Island in Mississippi. Two days later his lifeless body was discovered in the water just offshore at the northwestern tip of the island. According to reports, Wells was with a young lady on the island prior to his disappearance. She has been in contact with Nolan's family to share what she knows but has no insight into what occurred after going their separate ways. Despite claims from his companions that Nolan stayed behind to catch a different ride back, their story contradicts a glaring detail: his cellphone was on the boat that departed without him. Community outrage and online discussions indicate the young men on the boat trip hired legal counsel and ceased communicating after a body was recovered. Skepticism is fueled by allegations that at least one of the teens on the trip is the child of a local judge. Civil rights attorney Ben Crump is representing the family of Nolan Wells. Investigators are still processing evidence to reconstruct the events leading up to Wells’ disappearance. However, one stark reality is clear: every white person returned home safely, while the only Black member of the group lost his life. We will not rest until the complete truth of what happened to Nolan on Horn Island is revealed.

It's been almost three years since August of 2022, but I don't think anyone realizes what David Yannetti accomplished with the Karen Read defense. Yes, Alan, Aidan, Eliza Little, the Boston DOJ and others put in work, but do not forget that real power moves in humble silence. TRANSCRIPT: **David Yannetti:** Today was my client's first appearance after her Superior Court arraignment. And as you would expect, we are now starting the discovery process in Superior Court. The history of this case was such that while the case was pending for months in the district court, we had a lot of difficulty getting cooperation from the prosecution in turning over the information that they had. We had more than one court date where there was a big fight in court where we were pushing to get the information that we needed. And [the prosecution team] were essentially giving us the stiff arm in district court. Now that the case has been indicted, I'm pleased to say that the spigot has started to open up a little bit. We got some further material today, which we are going to review, cross-reference against what we have. And I think the theme for the day, really the theme for the past several months, is that with each new piece of evidence that comes in, we're more and more convinced of my client's innocence. Each new piece of evidence appears to corroborate that, and we're doggedly investigating this case to exonerate her, which we're confident she will be if this case ever goes to trial. **Court TV Interviewer:** What do you say if? What could stop it at this point? **David Yannetti:** The only thing that could stop this case from going to trial is if the prosecution becomes convinced of my client's innocence as we are. So, you know, if the question was, "Will there be a plea deal in this case?" That's off the table. I have an innocent client who looks forward to going to trial on this case, but I believe there may come a point where the prosecution sees the evidence that we have, and maybe they realize that they were wrong from the start. **Court TV Interviewer:** What can you tell us about what you have, the picture, the starting time, the image of what you're gathering? **David Yannetti:** So, I'm not prepared to reveal the evidence in our possession, mainly because we're using that evidence as a springboard to get further evidence. And, you know, before I begin revealing, you know, material of that nature, I need to complete my investigation. So, there's not, you know, a rush to reveal our defense. We're preparing our defense, but the truth will come out in time.

.Erik Voorhees: It’s actually good, from the Trojan horse perspective, that Bitcoin was traceable enough for traditional institutions to tolerate it. “When Bitcoin came out, everyone called it private, thought of it as private. It was referred to as anonymous in every news story. And in some ways, it is very private and very anonymous. But the truth is that it’s also extremely trackable and traceable. It is not private in reality. And the question is, should it have been from the start? And at first I thought, yes, it should have been more private. And that was a mistake in its design. However, I think if Bitcoin had been anonymous truly from the start, like a Zcash or a Monero, it would have had such antagonism from the state. I don’t know that the state could have snuffed it out, but they would have tried much harder. And I think it’s actually good, from the Trojan horse metaphor perspective, that it was traceable enough that the traditional institutions could tolerate it. They’ve never liked it, but they could at least tolerate it because there is some traceability. And that has allowed Bitcoin to grow. And I think in its shadow, that other crypto assets are actually anonymous is very healthy. The strength of cryptocurrency as a concept in society, I think, is served best when Bitcoin itself is not perfectly private, but other assets are. That is a very difficult thing, I think, for the state to combat. And that decentralization of attributes is really, really crucial. So, yeah, I’m very glad that there are other coins that are private. I want there to be more of them, and I want them to be more popular. And I think it’s okay that Bitcoin itself is not.”
