I know I’m late on this, but… For years, Mahomes’ arm strength has been treated like folklore. He has always been placed in the mythical tier of cannon-armed QB’s, like his arm defied physics. All that buildup, and we finally got to see a real look at it and it landed somewhere between “fine” and “that’s it?”. Justin Herbert basically matched that throw FLAT-FOOTED — no crow hop, no 9 yard run-up launch as the game expired, just a stationary stand-still flick. The “arm talent” conversation might need a reshuffling —in that respect, it’s an Allen / Herbert conversation.

This time of year can be special for the young men A3 Academy. Tampa is a hot bed for MLB players to ramp up for spring training. We have the luxury of partnerships with people like KineticPro Performance - where our advanced D1 hitters can take Live ABs off Big League arms and MiLB top prospect arms. 11 ABs a piece today for guys like Nick Cucchi, Jackson Roper, Jacob Kendall, Marc Hersh and several others. And while there were plenty of K’s to go around: Cucchi going yard off a big leaguer, Kendall hammered a ball, Roper (video’d) hit 4 balls off the fence, etc. An experience these guys will never forget and reps that will slow the game down for these guys.

This war in the Middle East is changing quickly and so are the teams World Central Kitchen. Thousands of families in southern Lebanon have been told to evacuate, many for the second or third time. The shelters aren’t ready for them. Our job is to remind them that somebody somewhere cares, with a simple hot meal and maybe a taste of home. We are cooking from six kitchens, including three in Beirut, and will be ramping up. We had to close three kitchens in what has become a high risk zone. We keep adapting, cooking, feeding, for as long as we are needed. #ChefsForMidEast

Yesterday I posted something about the leading Zimbabwean eye surgeon, Dr Solomon Guramatunhu, and how he has been a long-standing proponent of natural hair, especially for women. I saw today that a few women went into meltdown over that. More importantly, a lot of my non-Zimbabwean social media followers have been asking what the discourse was about. For that reason, I have cut this piece from one of the interviews he did with Trevor Ncube, where he explains his views on this particular issue and the thinking behind them.

I wanted to get some sleep before reacting to the Los Angeles Angels trade with Baltimore, and my first reaction still stands: I’m excited. This is exactly what the Halos needed. Grayson has legit No. 1 upside, especially with Maddux as his pitching coach. The rotation finally looks better on paper, something fans have been begging for. I like Ward, but this is the type of move the team needed, and freeing up about $13M to spend this offseason is huge. Trading one year of control for a young arm with four years of control is a massive win. Sure, there are health concerns, but the upside is worth it. Not gonna lie, I’m really curious to see what else Perry is cooking. The now six-foot-five right-hander has already experienced the Junior Future Games (2023) and Super Sophomore Games (2024), and if all goes well this spring, he should be in consideration for this year’s Future Games team. Ranked 3rd in the state and 192nd nationally, Hicks has a frame that oozes projection with a quick, compact arm stroke into a three-quarter slot. He hides the ball well and has the arm speed that allows his fastball to get on hitters quickly. Some of his heaters run arm-side more than others, and the ones that do give right-handed hitters issues. The fastball has been up to 88.8 MPH on Trackman, and we saw that velocity upheld in-game during the fall tournament circuit. Hicks’ low-80s slider is a swing-and-miss weapon with late movement, and the two pitches are a strong foundation. This past summer Hicks paced all freshman arms with 95 strikeouts (24th among all pitchers) in 65.1 innings pitched. The 95 strikeouts from a freshman pitcher was the most since Blaine Harpenau’s 101 total in the 2017-2018 season. Overall, Hicks made 11 starts for the Eagles and went 6-2 with a 1.39 ERA and a .177 batting average allowed. Big things are ahead for this young arm. More on Brady ⤵️

Today, we have a new pope. And these are images of his childhood church—now in ruins. The roof is collapsing, the door barely hangs on, and nature has claimed more space than people have in years. And yet… from this place, forgotten and broken, comes something new. Something holy. A reminder that God brings life from what the world has left behind. From ruin, resurrection. Thank you again for Dawn R who made a pilgrimage today to pray for the pope in his childhood home. It’s so incredibly moving.
