Ana Sayfaya Dön

Watching him fidget through the final minutes before proposing is somehow more romantic than any cinematic setup could ever be. It is the restless hands, the strange little pauses, the nervous energy he cannot hide, and the obvious effort to act completely normal while his entire future is sitting...

Los Angeles Dodgers second baseman Tommy Edman was asked about the role Jesus plays in his life. And his answer cuts straight to the thing most athletes never say out loud. "He's my Lord and Savior. Not only that, also my teacher. I try to study scripture each day and learn more about Jesus every day and kind of model my life after him. My performance in the game or whatever's happening isn't my identity. Rather, as a disciple of Jesus. That's the foundation of my life and it kind of makes me who I am." That one sentence deserves to sit for a moment. My performance in the game is not my identity. That is one of the hardest things for any athlete to actually believe. The entire sports world is built around performance. Your value is your numbers. Your worth is your contract. Your identity is your stats. And Tommy Edman looked at all of that and said: none of that is who I am. He is a disciple of Jesus. That is his identity. The baseball is just what he does. He also said something that reveals how he maintains that foundation. He studies scripture every day. Not weekly. Not when he feels like it. Every day. And he is actively trying to learn more about Jesus and model his life after Him. That is discipleship. That is not a Sunday morning posture. That is a daily practice of sitting at the feet of the teacher and asking to become more like Him. In a culture that attaches worth to performance and identity to achievement, Tommy Edman is building his life on something that does not move when the batting average drops. "I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing" (John 15:5). Is your identity built on what you do or on who Jesus says you are? This is what it looks like when someone refuses to let their performance define them. Tommy Edman plays for the Los Angeles Dodgers, one of the most watched teams in baseball, and he said plainly that his identity has nothing to do with what happens on the field. He is a disciple of Jesus. That is it. That is who he is. And he studies scripture every day to stay rooted in that truth. Pray for Tommy Edman and pray that more athletes build their identity on Jesus instead of their jersey number.

Pride and Prejudice – The Lake Scene A person is truly seen only when they no longer try to be perfect Some moments in cinema do not become timeless because of what a character tries to show. They become unforgettable because, for a very brief moment, the character can no longer hide who they truly are. In the BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, the scene of Darcy walking out of the lake is such a moment. At first glance, it is a simple situation: A wealthy gentleman has just finished swimming and unexpectedly encounters Elizabeth Bennet. There is no declaration of love. No grand conversation. No dramatic event. Yet it is precisely this simplicity that reveals the deepest truth about Darcy’s character. Because, for the first time in the story, Darcy does not appear as the perfect gentleman society expects him to be. He has no perfectly arranged formal attire. No safe distance between himself and others. No preparation to control how people perceive him. He is simply a human being suddenly placed in a moment where there is no time to rebuild all the outer layers he usually uses to present himself. And it is at that exact moment that Elizabeth sees the real Darcy for the first time. Throughout most of the story, Darcy exists as an image. He is: a wealthy man, a proud aristocrat, someone who always maintains his composure, a person who seems unwilling to let emotion overcome reason. But that perfection also creates distance. The more Darcy tries to preserve his calm and dignity, the harder it becomes for others to see the person inside him. He is like a statue carved too perfectly: beautiful, dignified, but cold. And then water appears. Water does not take away Darcy’s qualities. It simply removes the things that conceal him. The wet shirt does not make Darcy less noble. On the contrary, it creates the first moment when he does not need his social position, clothing, or manners to prove who he is. For the first time, Elizabeth does not see “Mr. Darcy.” She sees a person. A man who can feel awkward. A man who can feel embarrassed. A man whose emotions cannot be completely controlled. This is the most beautiful paradox of the scene: Darcy becomes most attractive at the moment when he is not trying to be attractive. He becomes closest to others when he no longer maintains his distance. He becomes most real when the perfect image he has built begins to break apart. Because sometimes, what separates people is not their imperfections. It is the excessive effort to hide those imperfections. This is also why the lake scene fits perfectly with the entire spirit of Pride and Prejudice. The story is not only about love. It is about the way human beings learn to see beyond outer appearances. Elizabeth must overcome her own prejudice toward Darcy. Darcy must overcome his own pride. Both of them must let go of part of the image they created to protect themselves. Only then can they truly see each other. A person is truly seen only when they no longer try to be perfect. And perhaps that is why a moment with almost no dialogue can remain so deeply alive in the memory of viewers. Because it touches something profoundly human: We often believe we are loved when we become the best version of ourselves. But sometimes, what allows others to recognize our true beauty is the moment when we no longer have to pretend to be someone else.

i just hope tian is okay right now. with all the false accusations and everything that’s been happening, i can’t even imagine what he must be going through. it honestly breaks my heart thinking about how overwhelming and hurtful this situation must be for him. i really hope he knows that so many of us truly don’t care about his past relationships at all. he is a grown adult and his personal life is his own. what matters to us is the person he is, the work he does, and the happiness he brings to so many people. and the truth is that tian has already shown multiple times that these accusations are false. even a lawyer pointed out that what he posted was not just a simple lawyer’s letter but a case notice stating malicious fabrication. in the entertainment industry most celebrities usually sue for defamation of reputation, but accusing someone of malicious fabrication is much more serious. yet even with official statements and legal action, some people still choose to ignore it and keep spreading rumors as if random posts online were more believable than documents with an official seal. that’s why this situation feels so frustrating and unfair. no matter what proof is shown, some people will still try to twist the narrative. but there are also many of us who see what is really happening and refuse to believe these rumors. more than anything, i just hope he is surrounded by people who support him and that he’s taking care of himself. i hope he knows there are still so many people sending him love and standing by him. at the end of the day we love him for who he is, not for some perfect image people try to force on him. he deserves peace and support, especially during a moment like this. 🤍
