They’ve made vertical windmills for 100 years. Actually there’s a Midwest drive-in movie theater that runs off of a vertical windmill in Gibson City IL.

It's the first I've seen. Wow. How come they aren't building these instead of those ghastly contraptions that line the countryside like sore thumbs? Would they not produce enough power?

No wind no turn

It's nice, but it's still intermittent power. I still think we need to be investing time in nuclear technology with nuclear power. Can you imagine where the technology would be today if they would have been so aggressive on refining nuclear power Technology. I bet it would be so safe now that we'd all have nuclear cars. But sadly they let the technology elapse and no new real advancements have happened. I'm not going to say it hasn't it's just here and there as opposed to what I described above. So please don't misunderstand what I'm trying to say.

Nuclear still is a magnificent power source and stable, but this could definitely have some useful applications.

So when there is no wind, how about having two magnets on the sides that make them spin.
