This is going to be a bit of a social experiment. I think for this to really thrive, people have to be respectful and trust worthy. What is going to happen when party people puke in the car? Or when the car has to go into some ghetto area? We'll see in 1 year.

I know this is just the beginning.. and I can't wait to try it in its current state. HOWEVER, what I am really excited for - and hopeful for - are city to city transfer in a Cybercab at a fixed price. Houston to Austin. Los Angeles to San Diego. Philly to NYC. Etc.

Wrong… the large car manufacturers are fucked. Fewer cars will be needed on the road. More car sharing/fleet management. Less individual ownership.

okay but every time I see “Waymo is cooked” they just quietly add more rides and keep going. Feels less “fucked” and more “about to hit the ugly middle before it gets normal.”

Has been for a while. I used to use Waymo at least once per week, but Robotaxi is about 2-10% cheaper.

I was driving behind a cybercab the other day. They are too tiny for me to want to ride in. Takes up almost half a lane.

It won't get approval outside of a few states. No safety redundancies in place for the visual only system. Watch it get recalled within a month after a serious accident occurs. Certainly won't get approval across Europe without the backup sensors. Eventually Musk will realise but all the Tesla owners will never get full self driving with their current cars. Maybe Cybercab 2 will have the necessary extra sensory suite installed.
