@Snapdragon That Joshua Zirkzee cameo shouldn't go under the radar. Man showed why he calls himself a 9½ with that silky link-up play 🔥

AMAD EXPLOSION, SAINTS IMPLOSION The man. The myth. The legend. A box-office attraction. For most of the game, United never looked like they were in it. Scrappy. Uncoordinated. Disjointed. Hapless. They laboured through large swathes of the match, and as the game edged towards the 80th-minute mark, the turnaround began. Twelve minutes later, the script had been rewritten, and the crowd was singing vociferously. Amadness. This was the stuff of genius. Surely, he is Manchester United’s Player of the Season. How he was relegated to the bench and shuffled between loan spells is baffling. Amad is a man on a mission, out to prove a point. It bodes well for the team and the fans that he has just signed a long-term contract with the club. Even the stars aren’t the ceiling for Amad this season as he continues to rack up goals and assists. His ability to rescue the team from blushes and snatch victory from the jaws of defeat is rip-roaring stuff. He is not just a saviour for the team but also for manager Ruben Amorim. United started the match sloppily, and it was no surprise that they went into half-time trailing by a goal to nil. Southampton had clearly done their homework, troubling United’s defence time and again. Ugarte was uncharacteristically off the boil, and Yoro was repeatedly exposed on the right side of defence, being rinsed clean by Southampton’s tearaway left winger. Even Diallo was largely anonymous in the first half. As for Højlund, how he continues to command a starting spot is mind-boggling. He struggles to hold up play, can’t dribble, can’t shoot, and fails to convert simple chances. If this dry spell persists, he could soon find himself benched. Ruben Amorim made changes in the second half, and while it was far from guaranteed that these substitutions would turn the game around, they made all the difference. Onana stood tall on several occasions, bailing out United with a double save that stands out as pivotal. Amorim replaced Ugarte with Collyer, who covered a lot of ground, showed mobility, and was neat in possession. Zirkzee provided a focal point in attack and linked play superbly, offering far more than Højlund. Antony added width, which gave United greater impetus. As time ticked away, the groans from the stands grew louder, and hope began to fade. Then, cometh the hour, cometh the man—Amad Diallo. Take a bow, son. He bamboozled Pieter Walkers, and though his initial shot was blocked, the ball ricocheted back to his right foot, and he hammered it home. From that moment on, it was a matter of when, not if, United would score again. Buoyed by the fans, they pressed for the kill. Eriksen, the chief orchestrator, delivered an exquisite dinked ball to Diallo, who had weaved through a cluster of defenders. As the ball fell perfectly into his stride, he thumped it home with the composure of a veteran. The final nail in Southampton’s coffin came not long after. Zirkzee, appearing to chase a lost cause, was ably assisted by the speed merchant Diallo, who stretched the defensive line thin. A loose touch from the Saints’ defence left the ball free, and Zirkzee pounced to seal the win. Three goals in a twelve-minute blitz—this is the stuff of legends. Amad continues to etch his name among the world’s emerging talents. It may be too early to say whether he will scale the same heights as heroes of the past generation, but he is certainly climbing the ladder. The Saints seemed to be lecturing the Devils for much of the game, but there was a twist in the tale. Amad turned the tide. Box-office attraction. Next up, we welcome the Seagulls to Old Trafford over the weekend.
