This morning, I was at my church in Winchester, and I’m grateful for the volunteers and organizations working tirelessly to ensure families across Virginia have food on the table and feel cared for this season. Today I worked a food pantry line. People were in their cars starting at midnight the night before. Hundreds of families, waiting for hours on end, just to be able to eat this week. The current administration should be ashamed at they are hoarding tax payer dollars while this is the reality for too many.

I visited a food pantry in the Bronx, which is facing closure due to the lack of funds. While I was there, I met a woman who lines up at the pantry every week, and depends on it to live. I asked her if she knew what was happening in Gaza, and she said the attacks on the children and elderly brought tears to her eyes. Watch my interaction with her:

Too many Virginia families are struggling to put food on the table because of devastating Republican cuts to SNAP and other food assistance programs making neighborhood food banks like Buffalow that much more important for our community.
