I remember when my then girlfriend flew to England for a visit, and upon getting out of a taxi the door closed on her finger and broke it. Obviously we went to hospital and she was treated. Upon leaving she asked where do I pay? I said we don't and i remember she was so shocked.

In Ireland the elderly also receive free medical cards in which it’s free for doctors visits the ER, operations any and all medical treatment, the elderly don’t pay once, once you are over 16 and above & if you are assessed and need social support/ welfare.

The problem was made law in 2010 and it is called Obamacare.

Sincere question. Why are you traveling internationally with an elderly and infirm father with medical conditions that caused all this medical commotion in a foreign country? I wouldn’t put myself or my elderly parent in that kind of risky travel situation. Will you do it again?

this is very old news, which is not to say that it isn't a serious problem. I remember back during the Clinton administration, they were going to come up with a solution, and Bill put hillary in charge of finding it. Of course, it went nowhere. Then there was 'obama care'. year after year, administration after administration. I had to switch to medicare, and i am currently paying about $900 a month! Total bullshit.

⛔️Israel has an excellent healthcare system—one that might not even cost half as much as the system in Italy—and on top of that, the US supports Israel with billions of dollars from American taxpayers, many of whom lack healthcare themselves.

My dad was a retired railroader. I ignored prostate cancer that turned to metastatic bone cancer. His meds cost $185,000 a month, generic. GENERIC! You know, because that cancer is so rare!

Very interesting when considering the median family income within the U.S. is at least $85,000 with Italy near $70,000, effective tax rate in the U.S. of 25-30% with Italy at ~40%, and the healthcare spending of the U.S. per capita being 3x more.
