Shame on u & @ABDanielleSmith for attempting to spin the responsibility for the strike anywhere but @ your feet. Properly fund public ed, pay teachers fairly, cap class sizes, stop paying private schools. Stop distracting w/book bans, garbage curriculum & PATs. Do your job.

Oh? You are? Then here's the offer to present later today: - Salary: 4/3.5/3/3 - Grid alignment 2025 - Hire 1000 teachers x 3 years - Hire 2000 EAs by 2028 - 24 student class size cap K-4 Go on. End the lockout by Friday this week, if you are so "committed". #ableg #abed

Cool story bro. So negotiate in good faith then.

And also UCP spends the most on Charters. If you cared about the public school students, we wouldn't be here now. Start bargaining in good faith. Stop gaslighting.

Then start investing in PUBLIC education. You have systematically and strategically attacked the PUBLIC school system, students & teachers. You have not negotiated in good faith. You are not putting students first. Investing in PUBLIC EDUCATION is the best way to invest in AB

So does this mean the ATA negotiating team can expect a counterproposal from TEBA today, and TEBA will be free to negotiate in the best interests of Alberta students? #ABEd #ABPolitics #ATA #TEBA #Education

How about you negotiate with teachers in good faith and have real conversations about what is needed. Maybe spend a day or two in their shoes, instead of 6 months wasting taxpayers monies with useless panels that accomplish nothing

You are? So are you at the bargaining table this week? If not, than you are not committed to getting kids back to school as quickly as possible.

Your actions or lack thereof (negotiating) say otherwise.

Your commitment shines through by looking at how Alberta compares their per student funding average from across Canada. But your private school funding tops the nation.

Then it should easy, pay the national average funding per capita , agree to a strategy to reduce class size and deal with class complexity as part of the contract. No more empty promises. Stop wasting money on other things.

If only you were willing to bargain in good faith, they already would be.

Then put a cap on class sizes.

Really you are? Then negotiate and bargain in good faith with the teachers association. None of what is happening is in the best interests of public education in this province. Is the ATA going to get a counter proposal to their offer from last week? We are waiting

We are the only province without any kind of class cap language in our contact. If you want everyone back to school, put class caps on the agenda.

Then fairly negotiable with the ATA to reduce class sizes. #ISUPPORTTHETEACHERS

How’s your recall going? Didn’t have to be this way. Your ideological attempt at defunding our public education system will send you out on your ass… Stop eating the crayons and send our education system some proper funding.

With due respect, Minister, all evidence of this commitment has been to the contrary. All we have asked is that you bring funding up to the Canadian AVERAGE, rather than spending the least in the country on a per student basis.

Why won't you fund public education to the national average?

Lookinglass's profile picture

False. If you truly wanted this, you would have spent time in the schools talking to teachers and observing what their daily struggles were. The fact that this government doesn’t understand the dire situation our schools are in is a failure on your part.

You are such an embarrassment, you have never moved off your offer from May & won’t fund education at the national average funding per student. Do your job or resign!!

Here’s your chance to rove you are more committed to kids than the NDP was! Fund education to the same degree AND give teachers a raise. Kids squeezed into utility spaces does not show commitment to anything other than babysitting, because they certainly aren’t learning anything.

Explain how this demonstrates your "kids first" philosophy. Your government is actually prioritizing new licence plates over education in this province.

The ongoing gaslighting and underfunding is going to affect these students more than the loss of a few weeks of school. Fund appropriate class environments for learning to happen - a parent

You’ve spent more time defending slogans than solving problems. Your at-home “toolkit” was a debacle — full of factual errors and worksheets for the wrong grades.
