When we were issuing the ballot papers, a few AAP and Congress Councillors were concerned that the papers had spots and marks - so, they asked me to change around 11 ballot papers. I honoured their request and kept the ballot papers in question on the side and issued them fresh ballot papers...When I finished the counting of votes, I was about to declare the results as per the process. BJP candidate Manoj Sonkar received 16 votes and AAP candidate Kuldeep received 12 votes; 8 votes were invalid...I asked the polling agent of AAP-Congress candidate to check the ballot paper but instead of doing that AAP and a few Congress councillors jumped on the table to disrupt the process, captured the ballot papers and tore them up...AAP and Congress hatched a conspiracy to derail the election process..."

KANO BY- ELECTIONS: PDP, NNPP, ADC NOT ON BALLOT PAPER Three major opposition political parties are missing on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ballot for the by-election holding today in Kano. The opposition parties missing on the ballot papers are Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) and African Democratic Congress (ADC). The by-election election to fill the two vacant seats in the state house of assembly became necessary following the passing of the former lawmakers last year who were members of the NNPP before their demise. Nine political parties, excluding PDP, NNPP and ADC, are boldly listed on the ballot papers.

The Edo election was clearly stolen by INEC. That’s settled. How do we start to rebuild trust in our electoral system? If you ask me, next steps must be: 1. The prosecution by ICPC Nigeria of the INEC Chairman under whose watch the Commission has gotten not only more incompetent but increasingly criminal; and 2. For the Judiciary to, as Sam Amadi encouraged, find the courage to reject election results that show clear manipulation. 3. Electoral reforms that increased the evidential weight of results held on IRev; and allow the use of the BVAS machines for accreditation and voting. We have to get back to the point where election riggers no longer believe the Courts are there to validate their crimes.

At Polling Unit 065, Garki Geological Garden, AMAC, only one registered voter was assigned to the unit. INEC deployed full electoral resources to this polling unit, including three presiding officer staff, security agents, and party agents; however, the sole registered voter did not turn out to vote. Meanwhile, a nearby polling unit with over 100 registered voters recorded higher turnout and could have accommodated this voter. This situation represents a misuse and inefficient allocation of electoral resources by INEC. The leading Zambian opposition leader and presidential candidate, Brian Mundubile, has alleged that President Hakainde Hichilema sent the military to polling stations and that soldiers are now tampering with ballot papers. In a statement issued this afternoon, Mr Mundubile said his party had received reports that members of the military had taken control of certain polling centres and that ballot forms were allegedly being removed. “We have received reports that members of the military have taken control of certain polling centres and that ballot forms are allegedly being removed. As part of our build-up to the 2027 General Elections, today we held the north east Zonal town hall meeting in Gombe State, I joined many Nigerians in rejecting the newly passed 2026 Electoral Act by the National Assembly and signed into law by the President. It is a recipe for chaos and manipulation of the electoral process. We demand that the National Assembly reverse its position and amend the relevant areas to allow for credible, free, and fair elections—especially the electronic transmission of election results in real time. Arise and shine, for a New Nigeria is possible.

Some people went to the old places, looking for their names and going round trying to find their polling units. But because there is freedom of movement, they could walk round and search, although it took them a little time, and we are observing that more people are coming in now to cast their votes. #CTVTweets

With what many people have described as a joke in the name of an election in Ekiti State, I hope Nigerians are truly preparing for the 2027 elections. From what we are seeing, it appears that not only are many Nigerians unprepared, but our electoral system is also not inspiring the level of confidence that citizens expect. If we want credible elections in 2027, we must start paying attention now. We cannot wait until election day before demanding transparency, accountability, and integrity from all stakeholders. Democracy only works when the people are vigilant and when electoral institutions earn the trust of the citizens they serve. The time to prepare for 2027 is now.
