China is going to force them to cut a deal bubba. War is over. Neither side is going to escalate further. You read too much into headlines. Both sides are playing theatrics, posturing for negotiations. The blockade gives Trump the leverage. It forces China to pressure Iran. Market doesn’t care about optics. It’s pricing in it’s already over, which it most likely is. That’s all that matters.

He’s got no leverage

Iran is hurting from this blockade. More importantly, China is hurting significantly more. China gets 40-50% of its oil from the strait. China doesn’t just support Iran economically, but also militarily, with valuable equipment and intelligence. The US is forcing Iran to a deal by putting pressure on their biggest ally and supporter. Iran doesn’t have much a say in this, or else they distance themselves from their biggest ally. It’s up to China to decide whether or not Iran agrees to Trump’s terms, not Iran. That’s leverage. Sure, China has reserves for a little over a month. The EU and our friends in SE Asia are hurting even worse. Oil is going to be higher for longer because of long term supply shocks. Trump is losing popularity. He will lose the midterms. These are some of the things Iran has leverage over Trump if the strait remains closed. Except, if he doesn’t care, which he clearly doesn’t, it’s no leverage at all. Either way, Iran is desperate to get the blockade down. It’s not up to them to hold out or not. China is daddy. Iran is a proxy. They won’t have a choice, market knows it.

It’s killing Europe and our allies. Just watch this summer. The shows about to start if things don’t change fast

I mean I agree with you completely. But what are they going to do? Either they sit there and take it, support us militarily against Iran, or they put sanctions and tariffs of us, and maybe kick our bases out of the EU to force Trump to abandon the war. I’m not sure what will happen, but the latter is unlikely. The real question is how long will China hold out? They’re already pressuring Iran. The desperation to bring the blockade down is clear.
