Wouldn't you also need steps to prevent groups from buying all the housing? (thinking out loud)

I totally agree. But there will always be some folks that won't be served by the market. That said, Austin is a great example of build more housing just works to bring down rents. And once building stops due to market forces or cartel fixing, then focus on public if needed.

This is empirically false. We currently have a massive surplus in housing. The highest in the US's history.

More housing is not the only solution. You also need to introduce a form of vacancy tax to incentivize the rental of empty apartments. Rich people also won't necessarily move into luxury apartments, they might also compete with the working class on renting affordable homes.

Destiny you are very bright but I’m sorry you are wrong about this. Luxury condos go up, wealthy people move in or to the area and cheaper apartments go up in prices and housing is still going up. I’m not gonna waste time explaining all the ins and outs but stick to your lane

Both Housing should have a public sector to protect against homelessness while we build more housing in general And for those that rather do drugs Forced rehab because ppl like to bring them up Also be more friendly to those that like the rv life

I disagree with this only because there’s 16 million unoccupied homes already here and we have unhoused population of about 600,000. It doesn’t really seem like there’s a supply issue.
