Attending the Abuja Igbo Fest was a remarkable experience. I was struck by the sheer scale of participation and the strength of cultural identity on full display. I had not imagined that such a deeply rooted and unifying event existed here in the capital, bringing together the Igbo community in such an intentional and inspiring way. I was truly blown away by the energy, the unity, and the overwhelming show of support for the creation of Anioma State. As their banner boldly reads: “The call for Anioma State is not just a political demand, it is a cultural affirmation.” Indeed, IGBO BU OFU! Thank you for the honour of making me your Patron. I’m proud to stand with you, now and always.

Many Christians believe today that “it’s not Christlike to debate. It’s not Christlike to argue. it’s not Christlike to disagree with people. It’s not Godly to say that marriage cannot be between two men. It’s not Godly to call abortion murder… We must be known for what we are for, not against. We must keep the peace…” And this is why a lot of Christians are weak in apologetics. A lot of Christians are bad at arguing and defending the faith because they have believed that “we must always keep the peace and not voice any disagreements.” But whilst God commands us to not be quarrelsome - He also commands us to “destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:5). In 2 Timothy 1:13 Paul also says “Carefully guard the precious truth that has been entrusted to you.” In Acts 17, Paul ministered in Thessalonica and it says “he reasoned with them from the Scriptures, explaining and proving that it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead… And some of them were persuaded and joined Paul.” 📖 The word for “reasoned” in the Greek is ‘dialegomai’ and it means to ARGUE or to have discourse with one. And whilst arguing can be done in a sinful way, arguing itself is actually a virtue. Without debates and arguments, error abounds. Arguing is a virtue because it helps us hold to what is true - and discard what is false. Arguing is what separates truth from error and wheat from chaff. It’s time for Christians to get in some holy arguments. It’s time for Christians to get in some holy debates. It’s time to guard the precious truth entrusted to you.

70+ hours into our sit-in, we were welcomed over Zoom by New Birth Missionary Baptist Church more than 30,000 congregation members strong. 🙏🏾 It was an honor, and it was history. In this moment, with our democracy on the line, we felt the power of faith and community standing with us. What does it mean to be an American in the year 2026? It means we still believe in those ideals of 1776. It means that we believe that all men are created equal. It means that we believe our rights are given to us by God, not by our government. It means that we the people create a government that is accountable to us, rather than the other way around. But the Summit of the Future showed that with a spirit of dialogue and compromise, we can join forces to steer our world to a more sustainable path. As this year’s #UNGA activities wind down, we must remember that this is not the end. It is in all our interests to choose the future we want and to guide our world towards it. The journey continues. Nwanyi Ocha is trending because Igbos are arguing if a non-Igbo woman married to an Igbo man is automatically Igbo, or can join Umuada or be buried in Igboland. We consulted from two Igbo elders, not Google or Internet Archive this time. This is what they told us. Umuada are Daughters from a village. — Simply; female offsprings of men from a village in Igboland. Not just from a kindred, a kindred is linked to one ancestor. But village is made up of multiple kindreds e.g. Ezeoke, Obiangwu, Umualumaku etc. They do festivals together as a unit. In essence, unless you were born by an Igbo man, you cannot be an Umuada. Also Igbo marriage doesn’t strip your identity, it only modifies and adopts you. A non-Igbo married to an Igbo man doesn’t become an Igbo person, but by marriage affiliation she’s accorded all due respect and privilege as a — Wife (inyom di) But if she ever has female kids, they are automatically Umuada, Male kids; Umunna and the kids will get full traditional rights, benefits and entitlement even after death. The more I learn about DNA and the inner workings of our cells, the more I’m convinced that there is a Creator/Force/God. You can call it what you want but to think it’s all just “evolution”, the result of natural selection, seems absolutely absurd to me. I am not saying evolution isn’t real but I am saying that our understanding about the nature of our reality and where we come from is sorely lacking. We like to tell ourselves the “we know the truth”, but the correct answer is that we really don’t know at all. Human origins is the mystery of all mysteries and our arrogance instead of reverence for that mystery is a big reason why evil has gained such a foothold in our world in my opinion. What do you think? Evolution explains it or something else is at play? I don’t claim to know the truth but instinctually feel our explanations are fundamentally flawed.
